With the addition of Adoulin and the upcoming Relic/Mythic/Empyrean updates, there are many people complaining about the availability of heavy metal and riftdross/riftcinder because many people are no longer participating in voidwatch. It seems it would be wise to counteract this a bit by adding additional ways to acquire these items.
Alexandrite in the past was really rare because few were doing Salvage. In response to this, the Dev Team put alexandrite drops in Nyzul Isle II and Salvage II to make mythics more of a possibility.
Ancient currency from dynamis is still something that is soloable, but it is also something that can be obtained as random rewards from Campaign as well as Meeble burrows.
Are there any plans to counteract the decline of voidwatch affecting Empyrean weapons?
One possibility that I can think of would be adding Heavy metal pouches and dross/cinder at a low drop rate (not too high to flood, not too low to never see) to Abyssea NMs that drop items used for Empyrean weapons (e.g. Briareus, Glavoid, Azdaja, Sobek, etc).
Just something to consider as voidwatch is on the decline, and Empyrean weapons may fall into the same problem that mythics used to have.

I would really apreciate something done about this issue.
Anything, as long as it's relevant and really makes a difference.
Please SE, address this thing for Empyreals!

Make it drop from skirmish and delve.

Make it drop from skirmish and delve.
NO. HELL TO THE NO.
I don't care what method they choose, be it crour, or increased drop rates, or within abyssea itself, but -NO- to adding ANYTHING else to delve, it's already the worst thing ever added. The last thing that needs to be done is adding more shit to it to force people to do it more.
I strongly disagree with emp related business involving SoA. I mean it's pretty ideal if you're talking strictly increasing the supply naturally but I do believe in making older content useful to do.
I do support the idea of Abyssea dropping this stuff. I never agreed with VW getting involved although it's somewhat sorta probably is involved /shudder Anyway it's absolutely logical for anything involving getting your emp to 99 to be dropped in Abyssea. True it's lv90 content and all but uh, that didn't stop relics and mythics from getting a break. Emp progression just sort of got shoe horned into VW to make it more appealing to do over time. As we can see, it didn't work on a grand scale.
The obvious quickie solution is obvious, but if they want to do it the right way then they'll take the time to add a few more NMs to Abyssea(per zone, gonna be a lot of people after them) for the sole purpose of empy progression, to right the design decisions the previous producer made.

Once the upgrade to r/m/e hits, it will be once again worthwhile to upgrade the weapons, so people will return to farm the items to do so.
However, if so many people are complaining about the lack of VW, why are they not teaming up to do it?

Personally would've loved the idea of Provence adding some form of ultra heavy metal pouch somewhere in the region of x50-99 per pouch since provence had to do x3 KI fight and a watcher fight since people only do that for gears and even now it's very rarely shouted on my server, and also would like the T6 jueno fights / T2 CoP / ToAU to include the T3 Zilart fights pouches as the fights are still challenging enough but i seriously would like an improvement to aquiring heavy metal as i need 1500 and don't want to pay for them, would like the option to farm them myself, at least with relic and mythic you can farm yourselves or in low man option, VW for some fights till require the 18 people to partake....

Maybe I'm wrong but Matsui was in charge of Abyssea, he invented the content and created all that would be implemented later on, as he moved unto FFXIV.
Not 100% sure, but I seem to remember Abyssea was his invention.
He wasn't the game director at the time of course, just the director of the Abyssea miniexps.

Personally, I am not 95 or 99'ing an EMP. I just know it's a common complaint so I figure something should be done about it.
If you have 18 people teaming up who each want to make a 99 emp, how much voidwatch do you think that is going to take to finish all 18? Before, there were a lot of people doing it which made a bunch available on the server. Even if you have sold it all, have you, Babekeke, gotten enough heavy metal and riftdross/riftcinder to finish an Emp on your own? Do you really think 18 people are going to do that many runs to help one person 99 an emp? Especially when, if you are looking to make gil, Delve is a more consistent option.
I disagree with putting Heavy Metal and Rift into Adoulin areas. I think that content should still remain separate. I think it makes more sense for it to come from sources along the line of making the Emp weapon itself. One could even add it to VNM (outside abyssea, heavy metal pouches to T2 and riftdross/cinder to T3) as well at a low drop rate (again, low enough that you still see it but not too high to flood the server).
Most people do not read forums or even know that they may be an update several months from now. When it happens you are likely to see VW pick up again.

add HM and HMP to all Voidwatch fights (including sandi paths etc.). There you dont need more then 3 people to farm HM

The question about low-manning VW: Will anything worthwhile drop without getting your lights?

Just want to add my voice to the many who agree with this. HMP at the very least, given the colossal amount required, should be made more easily attainable. I don't mind if it's a hard grind, but at least make it something that is doable. Riding on the occasional VW shout is really not a viable way, and even buying them would take time since there isn't many going around.

to increase the supply on plates SE could increase drop rate of plates Jueno t3-t4-t5 and T6, this last giving the posibility of dropping bag as Ziliart T3s, they could inrease drop rate from Zilart t3 makeing posible to get bags much more often and add cinders/dross to these, T4 sandy/bastok/windy should drop plates, thye should have been added long time ago.
Provenance should drop cinders/dross Bags low drop rate but still decent and when i say low drop rate i dont mean 0.0000000000000000000000000000001 SE please think about 10% drop rate.
VWs like ig-lima, QIlin-Aello or Uptala used to done because ppl was able to get glowing weapons now with skirmish and delve weapons those glowing weapons are "USELESS" (not the GK totally), who is interested on spend hours/days for a weapon what isnt good anymore plus cinder/dross/plates drop rates arent too good to motive ppl about redoing VW. they either increade drop rates on those items or just readjust glowing weapon to be competitive again.
Adding those items to Skirmish should be nice, ppl will increase segment pieces for alot and wont fix the problem however ppl can get segments from Reive, just making a new cicly but drops need to be decent on plates, everyone get a chest, everyone can get a chance at getting plates bag, cinders and dross.
Nyzul never fix mythic problems with alex supply, drop from bosses is crappy and just if the gruop to get 100 so can get linen but lost it if you are low on time and ppl isnt enouugh fast to pass/lot.
SE could add alex and plates bags , cinders and dross to NMS, more motivation to ppl to farm nms.

A prime example of where any "progression" requiring content that was never designed to be endgame forever will ultimately fail.
Low drop rates only win in the long run if the interest never wains. And it has.
Simple solution - It is time to massively increase the drop rate of heavy metal plates, riftross, and riftcinder, to almost 100% drop rate.
No one gives a shit about voidwatch anymore, so it wont affect SE's bottom dollar at the end of the month. Because everyone is doing SoA content.
Is that madness? No. it makes sense. People just expect nothing to ever change. As do I.

I agree with the idea of having HMPs, dross, and cinders in Abyssea. Actually, I wonder why it wasn't implemented in the first place! To focus on the issue at hand, HMPs, I find that though acquiring 1500 of these plates is a challenge, the availability and methods of obtaining them are very low and the restoration of stones is slow too. That has to change big time. It should work the same way like collecting KIs and Killing NMs (Glavoid for Glavoid shells for example) like 25~ times and guaranteed at least one or two of the required upgrade. For balance, the Riftdross and Riftcinders can remain with the VWs. Increase the availability a bit, not a lot, and it will look more promising to acquire these items.
I can't speak for other servers, but I know on my server, the majority of the people got their 95s~99s via bazaar. Very few have had the patients to collect all 1500 by themselves.

I disagree with the idea of adding HMPs to anything that isn't voidwatch, or somehow related to voidwatch unless it's at severely nerfed rates like they did for Dynamis currency in campaign battles. The solution should not be to create a new source of HMPs because that's just another nail in the coffin for VW. Instead, they should be focused on making VW more lowman friendly. As more and more powerful weapons become available, even ADL and Pandy beome easier and easier to lowman, so should VW.
But VW does not get easier just because you have a weapon with 10,000 base damage because of the proccing system. So the proccing system would need to be reworked so a 6-man group still stands a chance of proc-locking the enemies long enough to build light so you can actually get loot at the end instead of repeatedly one-shotting and getting nothing.

One idea a few friends of mine have mentioned would be similar to the reward system from delve. You kill an NM and unlock the ability to purchase all the items that particular NM drops. Although it will take time to farm the currency to buy these items (whether it be plasm, cruor or what have you), it would bring life back to VW. It would also open up multiple paths for people to acquire the HM or any other items they may want (excluding pulse cell items IMO).
From that, if they were to decide to use cruor as the means to purchase the items it would keep voidwatch active because it is still the fastest way to get cruor. SE would simply have to scale the prices of the items based on how much cruor you can get per kill of a VWNM.

Supply/Demand: Supply drops > demand rises > price rises.
Price rises > People farm them > supply rises.
Supply rises > Demand falls > price drops.
Price drops > people stop farming them > supply drops.
Rinse and repeat.

Voidwatch isn't something that someone can just go and solo farm, though.
If people want to specifically make gil from something, they will likely just go to delve which will not only make them more money, but is also more consistent. Random chance of Heavy Metal vs. lots of plasm guaranteed which can be sold. Many people on my server (and others) have made ridiculous gil from Delve. One guy on my server was saying he used his plasm -> gil to purchase all of the currency for Relic bow in less than a week.
So yeah, people know about supply and demand. Pointing out supply and demand really does nothing here. If people want money, they will likely just go to delve instead (as it's a lot better anyways for making money) or do something else that is consistent and better.
If people were to actually get other people who want HMP to do voidwatch with them for farming plates for trials, it's going to take forever to get 1500 x the number of people who want them to get them all.
