When it says Abyssea for free, does that mean no traverser stones needed for a while and we're getting 9 new atma and the ability to infuse a fourth atma?
Or does that mean, "Those of you who don't have the add-ons get temporary free access and get rewarded for not buying the add-ons yet?"

From my angle, it looks like they're saying that the three or four players that haven't purchased the Abyssea expansions will be able to enter those zones for a few weeks to play around, and that they'll have access to those stat bonuses while they're there.
I don't think this is at all beneficial to users who already have the expansions.
A great way to celebrate the 11th anni for existing Abyssea users would be to give us a 4th lunar abyssite to purchase. Just sayin', while they are messing around with Abyssea stuffs to allow people to play it for free.

Sure why not. We're already godmode in there, so giving us a 4th lunar isn't going to break all that much stuff.

It is a nice promotion though, but the game's population isn't as hale for it to be effective. =/

How many times have they practically given these add-on's away in compilations the last 2 years? Just how many players don't have the add-ons at this point in time (that is, actively played characters...not things like gardening mules)?
Beginning to wonder if anyone over there really knows wth they are doing anymore. Take a close look at the new trailer and benchmark tool for FFXIV. Looking more and more like FFXI-2 (a la FFX > FFX-2)....they might as well give us a CoP style fight where our character dies in this realm and is reborn with some special gear/traits or something in FFXIV ARR with our same name and such. Was really hoping to be blown away with ARR....but it's just too damn familiar looking now. At least there is the teaser for FFXV (not a typo, that is actually FF15, based on the vs FFXIII project).

Based on? It is the same game with a different title.

Better yet, let us use three atma anywhere outside. X3

Maybe in the sense that ARR is the same as 14's initial launch perhaps--but it appears to have changed from it's initial design somewhat. It's not even going to be a PS3 release now, but PS4/XB-One only. Core concepts are there, but they even stated they've expanded development and it's evolved to take advantage of the next gen systems, improving gameplay elements and such. For starters, they ditched Crystal Tools and moved to DX11, revamping the interface a bit. Looks like they may have introduced some extra gameplay elements too (looks like there are now stealth stances?), hard to say without more gameplay footage to compare.
"The world is ever changing".... "For the fifteenth coming"... "A World of the Versus Epic"
Sounds like they've shifted from what may have been intended as a standalone release to starting a new series as well?
Time will tell.

It looks like it means "people who don't already have this stuff get 9 atma and a lunar abyssite unlocked without haivng to do anything."

Its coming to PS3 and PS4 it was mentioned at the tail end of the showing of SE's offerings at the Sony Conference as they shifted towards Ubisoft's offerings.. PC and PS3 8/27/13 and on PS4 in 2014

We were talking about 15, not 14 ARR. vs13 was originally going to be PS3/360, but it's been revamped to 15 and they dropped PS3/360 and is now for the newer consoles.

14 shares as little similarity to XI as possible, aside from being set in FF universe, being an mmo, and mob types. Combat works completely differently. Transportation works very differently. You'll probably never ask for a d2 in that game.
Commerce works different. Controller functions work different. 14 is not by any stretch a party-grinder where that's all XI was pre-abyssea.
And I, for one, would welcome an XI v2.

Umm, so you're saying.... just at a glance.... that they're a fishbot because they only have RotZ?
EDIT: Right what I meant to post was to RAIST:
I must have missed the part where you specified only XV (no matter though). It wouldn't be the first time SE would re brand a entry into the series though, I mean it would be pretty reasonable to assume that every jump to a new console the market went through saw ideas and work shifted to the newer platform. I would say given the proliferation of information and the Internet age we live in we just saw that kind of awkwardness on display for the first time. Doesn't make it more unsettling but just how I view it as I take a step back from it.

True....if you actually play the game, you will pick up on all those changes (I was in the original Beta). But, as I was saying...it looks much more similar to FFXI now than it ever did before. Watch the trailers and the new benchmark tool some more. Try to view it from the perspective of someone not familiar with 14, who has only played XI and aren't already aware of the different mechanics in 14 and will be comparing it directly to their experience with XI. There are a lot of things that look more or less like XI revamped into HD--it wasn't like that in the original trailers/benchmark. Carbuncle is one such example...at least the other avatars we've seen got radically revamped models (crabs are another that look like they just got resampled into HD)...these are the more obvious examples, many more can be found if one looks closely.
It was considerably more obvious with the previous media releases that 14 was a whole new animal, which was a larger part of it's draw. With these new content releases, it appeared more like SE is trying to draw more people in by presenting it more as a reborn FFXI realm in HD, and less of a focus on it being a rebirth of the vastly different FFXIV. Kind of goes against all they proclaimed to be shooting for originally--a new game instead of a rewrite of an older one. Thus my reference to the X > X-2 mess. Looked very familiar on the surface, but was vastly different once you started playing. Disappointed a lot of people that tried the sequel hoping for more of what they liked in FFX, and in large part why it got so much criticism. Hopefully we don't get the same backlash with 14 ARR from people less familiar with the newer project.

The whole thing is nothing but an insult.. all it means is that people who dont own abyssea will be able to access the content (and have atmas/cruor etc) handed to them on a silver platter for a month

The whole thing is nothing but an insult...Really how so? I think they should just change it to forever, because with Abyssea's lack of interest in Atma getting and such now people who are just starting out need the free start to help out. Besides that, the free entrance to Abyssea is a stupid idea, the cheapest version of the game includes Abyssea in it, who doesn't have it?

If it's broken, how can you break even more? Ah i know you did everything you needed there but still cares about others progression to not reach you in delve OP gear. gear that is actually broken in every area of the game and not just Abyssea.
Go to FF14 please.

Wow Spectre.
I don't think that's the attitude Mirage was giving off at all.
You wanna do something that actually matters in abyssea? Set up a campaign where, for <time period> a mob will drop 1 of every seal it drops, at least.
Is that a fishbot? WITH a security token? How ironic :D
No, It isn't. Just showing that some of us actually have never upgraded.
I wouldn't be able to go, to Abyssea since I don't have WoTG(laugh).

What's the point of playing if you've never upgraded (so much, not just Adoulin)?
Not trying to be mean, but you're excluded from so much of everything. What do you do with your play time?

Seems like the events lately are more like: "Here, we are doing something to make you feel as you are getting constant updated events because it's a paid MMO" - the events are not very appealing to me, giving us tons of junk to hold and no room to keep it. But Hey it's better than nothing... /frown

But Hey it's better than nothing...Actually, its not better than nothing, sadly, because of the larger complications brought about by everything added. Not sure if that was your point or not, to tired to tell, so I state the obvious incase!
