Hello everyone,

I started to play ffxi again about four months ago and I found it difficult to figure out what to do first. There is no set order on how to play the game. This is just here to help new players try to maximize their advancement to mid content.

So you start off as level one, now what? Well throw your chocobo clothes on and start slaying mobs! If it\\'s double xp weekend level all your jobs up to level 10. Trust me you\\'ll thank me later.

Purchase all your weapons and armour from npcs. I started in Sandy so all the shops were in southern sandy. If you\\'re a mage make sure you purchase all your spells from npcs and NOT FROM AUCTION HOUSE. Example, people buy cure for about 50-200 gil from now and sell it for 2k+. I suggest having a character in every city to be able to purchase spells for cheaper.

Generally, you want to level up to 12 around your starting city. If it\\'s a double xp weekend than I would stay up to level 14 in West Ronfaur. You could get 150+ xp on ep if it\\'s double experience weekend. You could also purchase experience ring which stacks with dbl xp weekend from the T. K. Guard in your hometown. I suggest getting one to use between levels 9-14 which are usually slow experience.

After level 14 it gets easier if there is a GoV experience pt in Gusgen Mines. You could stay until level 99 if you wanted to but your weapons skills and all other would such tremendously. I usually stay until level 40 then head to crawlers nest. Stay at crawlers nest until level 55-99. I stay until 55-60 than head to Boustaniuex Obliette.

The above isn\\'t the most efficient way to level but it\\'s good if you want your skills to keep up.

Or you could just show up to an Abyssea experience party and hope they need a keyer or feel sorry for you.

Who do i have to screw to get to Abyssea?

No one. It is really important to start abyssea missions! Once you talk to Jachoam in upper Jeuno (across from the stairs used to go to chocobo stables) you will being to accumulate your traverse stones. You can only carry three stones at a time. You get I think one stone every 24 hours. Each stone gives you 30 mins jn abyssea. Every city will have 2 representatives from abyssea. 1 will give you stones and the other to teleport. They are located beside each other. In the main cities it\\'s in port zone. In Jeuno you have port Jeuno and rulude gardens. When you touch Cavernous Maws you should get a cutscene. You can teleport to that maw once you get that cutscene. Please forgive me, I forgot what you need to start to get these cuts. Of I am not mistaken, I think you need to unlock Pl the past by travelling to Maw in Saurmong Champiniogn. (sorry for spelling lol)

If you get in as a keyer for abyssea here\\'s what you need to know. You will need to get azure light. Th is happens from killing monsters with magic. Azure lights helps better drops or so I am told. I still don\\'t fullyget the drop system but jjust know that azure is good! (Ask for azure light but don\\'t panic if you don\\'t have anyone who can produce azure) You need forbidden keys from Cruor Prospector who is located beside Confluence surveyor npc. These are located once you first enter abyssea. Cruor is earned through killing monsters. You will*need to leech at one point to be able to purchase keys.

Once I got to level 80 I started with my city content. I was but so soloing was easier except for 4-3 because I had no magic. I subbed blm and it took me forever to kill him. Once I got to rank 8 I stopped doing my city and started with Chains of Promathia missions.

All the limit breaks are easy except for level 70 and 95. I did 70 with thief and it was easy. I had warrior at level 70 and kept trying to do the maat fight and he kept killing me. I leveled thief because I heard stealing is the easiest way. I went in with thief, I forgot to steal and just followed a different strategy of just attack, flee when he two hours, and kill him. Had lost of Eva gear which helped a lot.

Limit break 95 was the toughest, only because I couldn\\'t find people. We had 3 rarab tails and only used two. We had 95 bst, 99 scholar, 95 warrior, 95 dnc, and 99 Mnk. The fight is super easy, just getting people together and the rarab tails were hard. Don\\'t let ppl discourage you, it\\'s an easy fight.

Once you have 1 job at 99 it\\'s easier to get the rest because now you have no lb every 5 levels.

That is all I can think of at this point. I am at a point where I need to get SoA and do missions leading up to it. ToA is where I am to be exact, haven\\'t started the missions. Took a break to try and get axes for bst so I can solo as much content as possible. I amalso trying to get atmas for abyssea.

Over all I have found it easy to level up but very difficult to advance in content. There is just so much content and it seems like no one is doing the earlier contents anymore.

If you need questions answered about my experience thus far or if you have tips of your own please share them. I will try my best to answer any questions you may have.

If you want to go even slower so that your skills are not lacking but don't want to level bst or a job that can solo easily take some time to unlock your adventuring fellow. You just need to be rank 4 and have a level 30 job. You might want to do the 1st fight in the quest line at a higher level or to bring along some one else as there are undead and magic aggressive monsters near the fight area.

Some gear that one might want to try and get for when you are leveling other jobs or just sub jobs are battle gloves and bounding boots. Bounding boots are dropped off the NM leaping lizzy. You can try for an empress hairpin from Valkurm Emperor, but he tends to be a jerk and not dropping this.

Another thing of advice is fame drops prices for things bought in shops. Higher rank in starter cities makes for a longer lasting signet. Also some cities only sell some things depending on what rank your nation is in the conquest tally. These same shops also have some items that they will only sell to people of that nation. If you are a mage and your spells can be also be bought at Selabina buy from there as they tend to be cheaper than buying from other places.

Remember that this is a game and go at your own pace. Don't toss any crystals or the seals that drop from monsters outside of Abyssea's as they get used in BCNM's and for limit break quests. Crystals are used to fill up your rank bar and to give more points that are used for warping by the waypoints. Unlock all of the different ways you can get from point A to point B. be it by chocobo, airship, teleport cystals, outpost warps, aby maw warps, or void watch. You never want to be the person a whole alliance is waiting on to get to them the slowest way because you haven't taken time to do so.

i think the hardest part is actually finding a party that will let a complete new low lv stranger leech for Cruor. And it probably wont be just once too, as you dont want to end up being a keyer with a measly 10 keys for a long party....

Ive yet to find a leechable pt lol at least on odin. They usually only shout for 2 leechers and must have tons of keys >.>

I got lucky with my first abyssea party. I had an ls buddy who invited me. Went from lvl 72-99 in a few hours. It was a cleave party so mad xp in altepa.

Oh another thing, you could make mad gil if you lvl leather craft to 30. Went to teleport-mea and farmed dhalmel hides. Had a stack of cluster, windurs tea leaves, and distilled water. Make dhalmel leather and sell for 100k. Materials will cost 5k per stack and profit margin of 95k. I farmed as thf/bst for widescan.

Once you get to lvl 90+ pick a main job and try to pimp it as much as possible. At one point I was trying to have 3 mains but it ended up costing too much. Thief is my main but since beast is much better for solo I am pursuing that too. Everything else is just to be more versatile. You won't get empy, mythic, or relic on every job you hit 99 with. That is a long term goal and would take years to accomplish if you pick many to pursue.

Don't be afraid shout for help. Chances are you will find a couple of bored people or who need what you need.

I had to send /tells to random people help for lb 95.

Make lots of friends. I usually duo with a smn friend of mine that I met through a casual ls. We kill a lot of nm's together.

Some jobs have nice weapons you get from trial of the magians. Beasts had nice axes that increase evasion and another set that increase physical damage resistance. Look up these weapons for your job and determine if it is something you want. If it is than get started as soon as you can.
