I would like to start off saying that I'm reasonably certain that rings, are the largest category of items that we carry as a playerbase.

Many of the things we wear if they are best in slot for one job, (usually) are best in slot for another, however, the rings category has gotten a little overwhelming.

If I were to take inventory of what I wear on almost any job, it falls in the realm of 3-4 pieces per slot -/+ (3 feet, 3 legs, 3 hands, 3 bodies etcetc)

When I look at how many rings I carry, makes me wonder/wish there were more mixed rings like how the chatoyant staff finally was created.

I've got Thirty rings, 30. That I wear (and I'm no where near the amount I would like to carry if I could). JUST counting tp/ws/nuking/defense rings
2 Dark rings
2 Pyrosoul
2 Stormsoul
1 Aquasoul
1 Icesoul
1 Terrasoul
1 Thundersoul
2 Hajduk
Spiral ring
Epona's
Raja's
Paguorida
Sheltered
Tyrant's
Mars's
Luzaf's
Bifrost
Balrahn's
Sorcerer's
Strendu
Shadow
Evoker's
Neried's
2Demon's (aug'd with MAB)
Ephedra
Archon
+ Crafting rings, + fishing rings + EXP+ rings + warp rings

This doesn't even cover the rings I wish I had/still don't have...

Is there any possibility in the future of a Chatoyant type ring, either +7 souls or new +8 stat rings?

Also, mention of the supposed old reward rings needing to be updated, this would eliminate a (couple) ring slots.

Granted I play all 20 jobs ( I still refuse to count GEO and RUN) but I can't be the only person with 30 ish rings.

I know we carry Obi's/Gorget's/Elemental belts as well, and those need to be combined as well.

I've often wondered if the never ending flood of situational equipment isn't some sort of strategy they intended... With a limited amount of inventory space and the necessity of having so many different equipment set ups for any given fight, maybe it was their intention that we would have to pick and choose...

I certainly hope they've learned from this particular failed experiment and this mentality hasn't found its way into FFXIV... I don't think I can take it for much longer... From purely a role-playing perspective... who the hell changes armor mid-battle!?

From purely a role-playing perspective... who the hell changes armor mid-battle!?How does armor make me attack faster even when its heavier armor than what I was wearing before? How does armor make me hit twice as hard, or twice as often? Some things about games shall never make sense.

Well that could explain the instantaneous cloths change too. I assure you if I was fighting a monster and simply by changing my cloths in 3 seconds I could make my strikes hit harder, I would do it!

Beware the cloth-changing wizard~ He'll change outfits so many times before you that you'll cower in utter confusion!!

It's simple, everything you have in your inventory, you are wearing at once, but when you summon the will of the items stats forward, it appears on top of your other clothes/armor for some reason. I'll go with that. Or maybe they are all maybe of Nanobots and assemble and disassemble instantly on your person when you think about it. lol

I thought we figured that out long ago. Yes, you're correct.

Maybe you'd have different gear sets for different situations or mob types, but I don't think they expected us to be swapping gear mid-battle like a schizophrenic Superman in a phone booth.

FFXIV doesn't let you swap gear while you're in battle. That was one of the first questions I asked when I met up with a few friends in game.
