For lack of a place for game suggestions I put this here hopefully a Dev will see it >.>.
This came up on Allakazam for the 975th time so I figured it deserved to be posted here for consideration. There is once again decent player support for Race/gender/hairstyle ect change to the point in year 8 of FFXI a lot of us don't like the appearance of our character, want to be something else or are feeling it's time to stop being a "Manthra." Given the amount of time invested in a character that old "Mine's about 7 years old" it is difficult to just give up years of work to start a new character.
So I would like to request a "Mog Boutique" be added to the game to allow players to change the hairstyle and face style of their characters for a reasonable sum of gil. I would also like to suggest including several face/hairstyles and colors not available at character creation with the limit of 3 months play before the service can be used. It has been said limitations with a certain old system limit this, that can be gotten around easily >.>. AS to difficulty programming such a thing, there are individuals who have been altering game code for years doing precisely this, so I know it's not too hard for SE to implement. Why I don't use those programs? I believe in fair play and have never even used a windower program, or 3rd party program. Why should I be punished as a player for my honesty, why should anyone? It's time to make this available to the players i'm sure SE can top a few amature hackers.
I would also like to suggest a program similar to what Blizzard is using for WoW. Charge a 1 time fee for a player to change gender or race, similar to the fee levied for server jumping. Other companies are doing this, it doesn't affect anything negatively. Just put a 3 month lock on recently altered accounts so they can't do the service again for a few months. With gender/race change it is only fair to allow name change to go with either service.
FFXI is a great game I want to see it continue for many more years, and I honestly think Vanadiel is far from complete with the East half of Aht urgahn, and over half the world not yet revealed in expansions. These simple cosmetic changes I feel will help keep the playerbase interested. Perhaps FF14 should have just been released as a FF11 2.0, I personally would have upgraded if it shook off ps2 limitations forever, I love my Miquo Te but am unable to play 14 because it burned up my power supply once already.
Long post is long but stay with me I'm almost done. Another concern is the reuse of old equipment designs which disturbs this lootwhore. After 5 years the entire old gearset should have been redesigned, now there are thousands of items and it would take years to go through and redesign/repurpose many of the lost causes in that list. So I request this for future development, pay attention to how your players play, don't just make gear to make gear Please make sure everything has a purpose.
If something really nice looking is added but doesn't have good stats or level nobody will make it, or use it, it's wasted effort. Case in Point Furia, ebur, ebon Synnergy sets all level 71, the perfect chance came up to upgrade those sets further for use to and over level 90. You didnt' take that chance, now synergy is suffering, perfectly good gear system is lost, 7 jobs wear pink ranger gear to 90 and beyond. The Synergy weapons should have had further upgrades to use up to level 90, true the sword is grotesquely huge, it looks like i'm one handing a Great sword, perhaps recipes that would hone the power and size of those weapons and increase the stats/levels they can be used for. I personally have a Machismo(dagger) and a Concordia(sword), they sit in storage with my Furia Vest set, what a sad waste.
Anyway i'm done, it's been a while since I posted anything I guess i'm a bit backed up. Gonna close with this, for years there has been support for hair/race/gender changes in game, really long before SE took interest in player input, the issue has risen again, please take a serious look at this issue. And if you need some inspiration do a little casual research on some of the stuff the dat swappers have been doing with the game, you may be surprised how easy it is to do, and add for the rest of us to enjoy.
