The job abilities Steal and Despoil will be adjusted to not share reactivation timers.I like it. Now can we get Steal split from Aura Steal?

Edit: Title.

Yes please. Having aura steal on its own timer (at perhaps 3 minutes?) would definitely not be overpowered.

Actually, you could let the amount of merits in aura steal affect both absorb rate and recast time. 1 merit: 20% absorb rate, 5 minute recast. 5 merits: 100% absorb rate, 3 minutes recast.

SE said awhile back, when it was asked if steal/aura steal could be separated, that they thought it would be too powerful for THF which I consider to be complete garbage.

As I said in the other thread of the same name:

Steal and Despoil have no use as shared or separate JA`s since theres nothing worth stealing off mobs anyway. I agree with OP, Aura Steal would serve a better purpose as it's own ability since it's actually useful. I would also like to know why you consider Aura Steal over-powered as its own JA, an explanation would help us to understand your line of thought.

You know what would be awesome? Is if they let THF steal useful stuff from NMs that will aid the group in winning at stuff, thereby giving steal a reason to exist beyond robbing beastmen of a beastcoin.

Oh wait they did that in sky for a knife like ten years ago. Why did they stop doing that? I guess it was too much hassle. Also there was a chance that an alliance wouldn't have a THF I guess? Because it's often since 2003 that groups won't carry THFs because THFs don't get anything that would have groups demand to have them so I guess that's a pretty good reason not to design content that relies on the THF job to succeed. That's why Brigandish Blade was so hated by so many, because they were forced to invite THF for it, a rather useless job that was never helpful in anyway. So SE learned from this experience and ever since then THF no longer plays an important role in end game like this is a MMORPG or somethi- .... wait, what?

Also the reason they won't give us aurasteal on it's own, is because as we saw with MotherGlobe, when a THF stole her spikes, the THF was incredibly overpowered. I mean MG would never hit the THF but when it did, damn she got rocked. I could use other examples, but unfortunately I have none because MG is about the only damn thing worth using aurasteal on because SE won't allow aurasteal to be a really useful thing on their latest offerings of replicating AV and PW quality monsters, and it's basically worthless when MG can't hit you. So imagine a THF stealing a mob's buffs, and then stealing their items that are never coded into the game anyway. That would be too powerful for THF. So in other words, the short short answer is that SE just doesn't WANT TO FOOL WITH IT. It's now three years later or whatever, and the best thing they are willing to do with THF, is separate steal/despoil timers? This ain't good. At all. What do we get? Like one job adjustment a year? So THF's is wasted on steal/despoil timer separation. Mothe-

Yeah, this is essentially a non-update. "Look Guys, we are doing something!" It's something that they can say the are doing...but it does functionally nothing.

Steal is worthless.

There are no items in all of Vana'Diel Worth Stealing
The development team does not WANT to add items worth stealing

And there are greater fundamental issues..like the fact that it has a ridiculous 5 minute timer AND its accuracy is horrible...but these don't matter either, because the ability itself is useless. So whatever.

Despoil is also worthless.

Same issue of no items worth stealing
A variable enfeebling effect that you have no control over (worthless), which is tied to the (unreasonably low) success rate of stealing a worthless item.
A ridiculous 5 minute timer for an ability such as this. And it STILL misses quite frequently even though they gave it this ludicrous 5 minute recast timer.

So, development team, why would you waste the time to separate steal and despoil recast timers, when you don't want us to be able to steal anything of value?

As I said in the other thread of the same name:Ah, sorry. I did a search for dev1145 and nothing came up.

Also the reason they won't give us aurasteal on it's own, is because as we saw with MotherGlobe, when a THF stole her spikes, the THF was incredibly overpowered. I mean MG would never hit the THF but when it did, damn she got rocked.Yeah, I seem to recall that when Aura Steal first came out, you could steal just about every buff from ever mob, but now it doesn't seem to work on anything.

Thief, fixed in a single update.

Good Job Square-Enix.

I remember this one NM. It would have been a really great time for aurasteal to be functional. It was named "several Abyssea NMs" At least last I checked aurasteal didn't work on any of them, like the pot, I think that VNM sea shark, and Itzpapalotl. Just to name three off the top of my head. But of course you couldn't steal those buffs because they were what made the NMs hard to begin with. So to be lazy about it, they just didn't let THF steal those buffs, even though I still steamroll their asses regardless.
