I might be a little late to the party (other threads and closed ones idk) but I been thinking about how SE could revamp R/M/E weapon trials. Current state of the game makes it very difficult now for players to complete said trials without vast amounts of gil hidden away for a rainy day. My ideas are not to drastically revamp the latter half of the trails but make minor changes to make acquiring level 99 versions a little less daunting.

Basically what I’m pitching is SE allow specific boss kills to equal 1 item. I think this is far to all especially with the rarity of items available now and how a lot of the bosses still require an Alliance to kill them. Coupled with the fact that players wanting to get said kills will need to be on jobs which can equip the item makes it still challenging from a strategic standpoint.

Relic:
Level 95 to 99: Make killing Arch Dynamis Lord 5 times an option instead of acquiring 5 umbral marrows.

Level 99 to 99 Afterglow: Make killing Arch Dynamis Lord 250 times an option instead of acquiring 250 umbral marrows.

Mythic:
Level 95 to 99: Make killing Pandemonium Warden 3 times an option instead of acquiring 3 Mulcibar's Scoria.

Level 99 to 99 Afterglow: Make killing Pandemonium Warden 150 times an option instead of acquiring 150 Mulcibar's Scoria.

Empyrean:
Level 90 to 95: no change in heavy metal plate requirement but add Heavy metal pouches (instead of heavy metal plates) to the following monster drop pools: Ig-Alima, Botulus Rex, Bismarck and Morta.

Level 95 – 99: Make killing Ig-Alima (Riftdross) and Botulus Rex (Riftcinder) 60 times and option instead of acquiring 60 Riftdross or Riftcinder.

Level 99 to 99 Afterglow: Make killing Ig-Alima (Riftdross) and Botulus Rex (Rift cinder) 3000 times and option instead of acquiring 3000 Riftdross or Riftcinder. (Think SE should relook at the requirement of 3000 dross or cinders)

Hope SE likes my idea. If not, I don't forsee many players getting their weapons to 99 which are stuck at 90 (Empy) or 95 (relic/empy) to 99 anytime soon unless you have a good Linkshell. Especially with the focus on adoulin content now.

Pretty sure SE doesn't want us to complete some of those trials as that would mean they would have to come up with more stuff for us to do.

So I don't guess that while the DEV team Is augmenting R/E/M weapons that they would consider lowering the amount of alexandrite required to get the base mythic weapons. Cause 30,000 is....so much. Even with the gil to buy it all that is just so much there is almost never that much on the market. Didn't even add all the other stuff required (which isn't all that bad just takes time) but the alexandrite....good grief even with the price coming down its still x3 the amount of gil any of the other weapons are.

My two cents would be make it 20,000 alexandrite, still a lot, still makes them hard to get (as they should be considering most are the best or at least were until delve) but not a stupid amount like 30k. >.> Just my opinion I am sure they will not even reply to this and if they do it will be "No current plans at this time bla bla". Um yeah anyway feel free to comment XD

People still run Dynamis for relics as that's accessible but the venues for Alex are few as they are and with Voidwatch having been snuffed out HMP are not exactly common.

Actually I remember during the time of the initial outcry against the original trials for 95>99 the devs specifically decided not to do kill trials due to wanting players to be able to freely face the mobs w/o having to wear their weapons. Of course this could be seen as them stretching the content by forcing people to fight it many more times for the 1-2 drops.
