Game keeps freezing ten seconds after logging on to my main character only.

When I log in on my main character, the game freezes ten seconds later.
I can log in just fine on my mules though.
I'm playing on the Xbox 360.
I've been having this problem since the update earlier this month.

Did you try to run a file check on the FFXI files? Are your mules in the same zone as your main?

Suggestions:
1. Check to make sure you have properly configured or turned off any of the following: Routers, Proxy Servers, NAT Servers, Internet Connection Sharing services.
2. If you are using any kind of software/hardware Internet Sharing service/device the following ports need INCOMING access to your PC: TCP 1024 - 65535, UDP 53, and 50000 - 65535. Also, check to make sure that the ports mentioned are not blocked by your ISP for INCOMING access. Proper configuration of any of the above items mentioned should be done by following the instructions in the software/hardware manual or calling the manufacturer's technical support.
3. If you are using a router, and have configured that router for port forwarding, temporarily bypass that router and connect directly to the modem.

Please take note of the following:
• Proxy servers, and satellite connections are not supported and do not work correctly with FINAL FANTASY XI.
• Your router may require that you use a PC to configure your network settings. For more information about how to configure your network settings, please refer to the instruction manual that came with your router or contact the manufacturer directly.
• If your Internet Service Provider (ISP) specifies a DNS server, you need to make sure to configure your settings to allow packets to pass through UDP Port 53 as well. For more information, please refer to the instruction manual for your router or the information provided by your ISP.

Didn't help.
I can still connect just fine with my level 1 mules, just not my main character.
I get a window saying error code FFXI-4001 after a few minutes of leaving it frozen if that helps.
I play on the 360 and not on the PC.
Am I going to have to resort to reinstalling FFXI?

I have a solution for you sionnach. You will have to do a 100% uninstall of the viewer and ffxi on your 360. Then reinstall each individual item (depending on whether you have a complete set or multiple install discs like I do). Depending on your model of Xbox and your internet, expect for it to take 6-12 hours. Since the release of Adoulin, SE messed something up where downloading updates occasionally will lock up your main character. It will not affect 'mules' (there is thought this is because of the amass of gear, etc, but really we have no clue). I had the same problem with the april 2nd update SE did. Now I am back to playing although with slight freezing but this is something that will never go away as SE will never fix it. Good Luck.
