Umbril monsters have a special attack called Necrotic Brume, which inflicts a short duration Curse(Zombie variant) effect as well as Paralyze, Blind and 200-300 damage.

Unfortunately, while the automaton recognises Curse(Zombie variant) as different from Curse(MaxHP/MP reduction), and thus avoids casting Cursna, it will still cast Cure spells or use Economizer, despite these being ineffective while Zombified. Mana Converter also still triggers and takes HP, but presumably the Refresh effect doesn't kick in.:(

So it would be nice if the devs could 'fix' the AI on this point, as Curse/Zombie is a pretty common effect now, rather then a NM-only deal.

I don't know. it never stopped most humans from continuing to try to cast it. :p Changing this would make the automaton smarter than most players.

Heh.. I actually had both my maton and a WHM cast Cure VI on me at the same time for 0 HP once :D
Automatons have the ability to check stats/buffs/debuffs though and change their casting accordingly. And few mobs in Adoulin are casters, although they all seem to have MP, so I'm seeing my pet cast Silence and Addle on Umbrils and Twitheryms.

Also, if the maton casts a spell that is resisted outright, without the chance of immunebreak, why does it keep casting it? Reive targets (roots, nests, etc) are immune to Poison, Silence, etc, yet the maton will spam cast it. It doesn't cost much MP, but it could have used that time to cast Cure V on that SAM in the party being pwned by a hundred butterfly kisses.
