Chapuli comes from a Nahuatl word for "grasshopper"

Orthoptera is the taxonomic order of insects containing the grasshoppers and crickets etc

Orthoptera is an order of insects with paurometabolous or incomplete metamorphosis, including the grasshoppers, crickets, weta, and locusts. Many insects in this order produce sound (known as a "stridulation") by rubbing their wings against each other or their legs, the wings or legs containing rows of corrugated bumps.

Supernal Chapuli's special attack is Orthopterror

I don't want to be seen as a pundit but very time it uses this attack it makes me want to punch my computer
Please don't do this to me - when I see such a terribly named special attack spammed by a notorious monster (regardless of how punishing it is damage-wise) it just makes my neck crick -- it's simply unacceptable

I'm trying my hardest to leap into the new content but such tastelessly homespun ability names just leave me feeling pungled at every locust! I didn't ask for this! My linkshell didn't ask for this! Katy didn't ask for this!

Please change this NM's special attack name to something less pungent and I hope we can expect this adjustment to be made punctually

Thank you for your time

Orthopterror

It's a pun. Please locate your sense of humor and send it in for repair.

Nevermind, apparently I need mine repaired. Can you recommend a place?

Have to ask... does the ability inflict terror?

If yes, I'd imagine it to be intentional indeed. If not, I could actually see it be a sort of a typo, or an oversight even! One could take it towards the Localisation forum, and see what they have to say about this conundrum.

If nothing else, that would at least punch more meaning to it!

Ehhh...

Pfft, if I were in charge of naming stuff in this game there would probably be twice as many puns. I'd put a lottery NM buffalo out in the Thickets called Bhafflau. There'd be chapulis called Patchouli Chapuli that drop tons of apple mint. You wouldn't get aggro in Monastic Cavern if your main is set as MNK, WHM, or PLD. An NPC in Kazham would sell a three-hour meat food called KazHam, which'd be a ham with pineapple slices on it. A behemoth NM called Butthemoth would drop Butthemoth's Rump("The ample posterior of the dreaded Butthemoth", maybe use the flan meat icon?), which would be used in a leathercraft synth to make a h2h weapon called Gluteus Maximus. When equipped it would look like oversized purple boxing gloves.

I keep thinking about Chalupa's and it makes me hungry for Taco Bell.
