View Full Version : Waypoints and colonization rate "decay" issues

Too long; didn't read: I do realize that Valefor is one of the less active servers, but this may be in the future of many other servers, if not already happening .

Now that people either don't want to bother with the game or are only doing delve, because little else matters, this month old expansion is seeing its mode of transportation crash.

They claimed the prior decay rate was based on speculated participation (probably based on how much we participated in campaign, which held much better rewards, and a much more level playing field, save for the NM bosses). Yet they had to patch it once just so players could establish a foothold in zones, and that was before they released a "tier" of content that told players there's little reason to be doing them unless you desperately need bayld or are after the pop items. Unfortunately, people after the pop items appears not-enough to support.

Since the release of Delve, many players have made one of three decisions.

It's time to take a break.
I'm quitting.
I'm gonna play Delve.

However, few are doing anything else, because recent updates implied, and recent announcements have confirmed, that all our efforts before adoulin are best left to memories. There's no reason to do much else.

Unfortunately, however, the "much else" also includes other adoulin content. I've been happily hopping around waypoints zone to zone for weeks now, gathering more as I found them, but even, post-"Reive decay rate"-patch, Adoulin's front yard is too sparsely populated to keep the colonization rate up. I noticed today that I can no longer warp to 2 of my waypoints on CB, and can't warp to 2 of 5 in Morimar.

Just walk would be a fine sentiment if there weren't regularly reives blocking your path. I'm a paladin, and usually on paladin, and yes, an ochain and any good dd can take down most reives, but do you know how boring it is to fight a wall for an hour, for that dd? Or to stand and just supertank...for an hour, for no greater gain than access to an area you've already been, and likely a bag of herb seeds?

It seems, looking at the two, that SE learned one lesson from Campaign, and one lesson alone. They learned that some players will take a mob a good distance away to solo it (when campaign mattered). Few players would take a mob a good distance away and either horribly slowly solo it or kite it just to irritate others. Campaign V2 is in no way better, and in many ways worse, than WotG's campaign.

Edit: Valefor just recovered Morimar #2 and I'm able to warp directly to it. Still pretty bad, but not as bad as having to re-tag already obtained waypoints.

Even more annoying, if the waypoint is lost, when(if) it comes back you have to go re-tag it to use it again. I wish they'd remove the backslide feature from the progression in some way, maybe lock a zone once it hits 100% and permanently activate all bivouacs and the like.

It seems to be an isolated bug at most then, as other people haven't had the same issue, and I haven't had it happen again. It's entirely possible it runs the gamut from my lousy internet connection leading to an attunement confirmation that the server didn't see, to me being retarded.

Are you kidding me?

Wow. I'm not walking to Morimar again SE. I'm not floundering around Foret de Hen.

Please... please fix this.

Valefor recovered #2 tonight, and I found out that this Limecat's understanding is no longer true, whether it be patched or just remembered wrong.

It's all down hill from here, boys.

It's been downhill son, the slope just steepened.

Yeah I just saw my first message about a waypoint being destroyed today. I had no idea it meant I'd have to activate it again. That's ridiculous. I definitely won't be bothering with that again.

It's bad enough that the system and rewards for Delve discourage participation in the rest of Adoulin content. But to have the colonization benefits decline like this is too much. The worst part of this is that if you want to continue doing Adoulin content progressively, then Adoulin content is the only thing you can do, just to keep the rates up. Sorry, but the new zones and colonization activities are just way too boring to inspire that exclusivity.

I'm pretty sure that Asura has lost at least one waypoint in Ceziak and regained ot over the last week (if someone could confirmt that that would be great). I just checked and i still have access to all the waypoints that are up and I haven't been to 2/3 in at least a week.

I've attuned Morimar 5 and Yahse 1 twice now. Hopefully you're right, and I just got caught up in a bug.

I'm pretty sure we don't need to activate waypoints after they've been lost and re-obtained.
It was something i was afraid too, but it looks like I still have all my waypoints warps.

Well, Morimar, at all 6 waypoints 6 days ago, down to 4 yesterday, down to 2 today. Frontier and #1. I was hoping some area had climbed so that I could test myself either way whether regaining waypoints requires re-tagging.

Doesn't matter anyway. Running through morimar for a task will be too annoying for most people. As I said before, just because I can duo or trio a wall in an hour doesn't mean I want to. An Ochain isn't even necessary for the task, bsts can solo it, good bards can crowd control very well, etc etc, but...

None of it is fun

SE talks of lowman content, while creating content that requires steady server-wide participation, and immediately nerfs the value of that content.

I do what I can. I've been doing supply runs to Morimar on 3 characters everyday. But unless there are hundreds of like-minded players, we're stuck.

And it means that people are stuck doing Courier Coalition stuff instead of something they might really want to do instead.

I can understand the warps being disabled, but you shouldn't have to tag them again when they become available again. That's just stupid.

I edited my op and my initial response to the person claiming such.

If it ever were the case, it no longer is. You don't have to reclaim warps once reactivated.

Yeah, I'm guessing this was either a one-off or just something really weird on my end, and I ended up jumping at an immediate cause without double-checking.
