View Full Version : RMT Resurgence

I'd like to call attention to the sudden resurgence of RMTs, particularly on the Carbuncle server...
Look no further than the Meteor scrolls on the AH for all of the names you need to investigate. This item's price went up 500% in a matter of days while the number sold per day went up 300-400% simultaneously. Meanwhile, none of the other servers experienced these increases. The current price for Meteor on Carbuncle is 6-8mil while it remains at around 1.5mil on every other server. I have played on this server for around 10 years and never heard of any of these players, and their AH history is sketchy.
Arise is also a recurring factor, although if there is price fixing going on with Arise scrolls it's across all of the servers...
The following are some examples of the suspicious transactions:

The following data sets are for scrolls of Meteor on Carbuncle:

Please join me in reporting these players and calling as much attention to them as necessary for price fixing and possible RMT activities... I'm so sick of these people. I've already started getting tells again from advertising bots.

Take away their Blinkers, they do more cleaves, take away their cleaves, they do Dyna, make currency crash with new god powered weapons... this happens...

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this isn't RMT, this is just stupidity and laziness.
The people on carbuncle, and probably other servers as well, believe the only way (justifiably) to beat field delve nms, is with meteor.
So, everyone is clambering to buy it, so they can get the ONE win they need, so they don't miss the ONE opportunity to obtain the win.
I've watched the JP get decimated by tier 3 scorpion, and resort to spamming meteor. they all went out and bought it, at the inflated price, on may 1st.
Yes, I'm going to ruin it for you all. They had the scorpion at 50% and could no longer damage it, so they had 6 blms cast meteor, home point, change jobs to reset elemental seal, used the rune to come back outside and repeat the process, for about 2 hours. doing 2% damage each time.
This is the only way to beat these NMs(not tier 1 and 2)(tier 3 4 5), and people are willing to pay through the nose to beat the content before it stops being done.

A proper setup is all that is needed, for now we simply lack enough knowledge about each NM to formulate a plan I think, for instance we need a lot of accuracy for the Butterfly it seems, the Raptor we took down easily with a lot of DDs, 3 WHMs, proper buffers, and a PLD who held hate most of the time.
These NMs are very much beatable, just not as easily as we are used to.

Not the tier 1 and 2 mobs, raptor is a t2. Try a tier 3 4 or 5. I've done the raptor as well, and the butterfly. with no meteor.
I would love nothing more than to watch 18 people attempt to kill the Transcendent Scorpion (in the field) without meteor. It's probably doable, but the group I watched sure had no chance in hell at it. They weren't exactly the best, but certainly above average.
Or for that matter, Tax'et.

Do T1~2s, get gear, do higher tiers. Its obvious they expect us to progress over time climbing a proverbial latter, not simply be able to hit T4~5 from the get go.

No amount of gear in the entire game is going to make a significant impact. Sorry to tell you. The weapons might, but gear, nope.
If it were obvious to progress through the tiers, then they wouldn't have unlocked all 5 at once. They would've made it required to beat 1 to access 2, 2 to beat 3 etc.

Or they could have expected people to try the tougher stuff and possibly get creative, along the lines of the Meteor-fest mentioned above. But yes, it's a helluva lot easier to go from tier to tier rather than attempt a T3+ with pre-Delve gear...but skipping a few tiers means you're unlocking gear for plasm deals that are more potent, no?

Is that why they're buying multiple scrolls for millions of gil more a few days later, and selling them back at more than double the price they just paid for it..? I'm willing to bet if someone were to look into these transactions over the past week the vast majority of them are performed on the same accounts with alts and/or the buyers are directly affiliated with the sellers...

These scrolls aren't even short on stock, the same time the price started skyrocketing the supply went with it... Below 2mil there were only 1-3 on on any given day, now there are over 10 all day every day... it makes absolutely no sense. None of the buyers or sellers have a profile, none of them have a history of purchasing mage gear or food... the usual trend is random crafting supplies and meds... these aren't normal players, and the way the stock is and has been this past week I'm willing to bet none of these scrolls are actually being used, because they're not common enough to be selling more than 10 a day while maintaining a stock of 10+...
If you look around on other servers you'll find a similar trend too... One person selling 3 scrolls in one day while simultaneously doubling the price (or more)... That doesn't happen legitimately, those sells are fixed specifically to price gouge.

Yes, its stupid people paying inflated prices. it has -nothing- to do with rmt (specifically)
It's people buying shit while it's cheap pre-update and selling it for more money post-update... have you even played this game for more than a week?
It happens every update.
The first instance is most likely someone buying the scroll for their account, then a second when they realized they needed a second for a mule. I do this often enough, then just trade it to the mule, or main.

I went with a pick-up group yesterday that killed Tax'et inside in about 20 minutes. All these new Delve NMs have tricks and in less than one week a lot of them have already been figured out. Do some research, join a group that is no more than half mouth breathing idiots and you too can gain access to all the new gear. I know it's been a while but these fights require some sort of strategy and a group that's buffed appropriately and prepared for the task ahead.
My guess is that within the next 2 weeks all the NMs will have been figured out, people will start augmenting all the spiffy new gear they get, and the elite endgame LSs that have survived this long (or are starting to form again). will be tackling and defeating the zone bosses inside on a regular basis. It won't take long after that until that gear and those strategies become available to, shall we say, "lower tier" players (and I am one of them) and those of us with a sense of perspective look back at all this crying about how hard the NMs are and laugh (I'm already laughing).
Remember, less than one week and we are already taking out all but the toughest of the new monsters. The ball is rolling.

The thing with that is, ppl buy stuff that is going to be heavily needed after the update. As far as i can see there is no sudden or high need for meteor. It also only started happening a day or two ago. That was already a bit after the update. Not before or right after.

I mean really? We just started LS up 2 days ago for this know BLM army using 2 hour ES meteor spam about, took scorp out with a little issue but too much. Kept dots rotation full time used PLdx2 50% PDT with TA Spam on Plds, Cor Brd Whm Rdm Sch like 2x blm. basically all in all bar some new jobs like Cor and Sch playing brd whm style anyway was old school PLDx2 HNM set up. It is seeming that one you figure out each NMs trick and have a balanced alliance, not so much an issue. And you do not need crazy DD rage spam alliance either, 3 heavy DD and one good Thf each netting 15%-20% of the damage in total fight. I kinda think this is the new player base who did not play pre abyssea freaking out.

People made so much money with blinkerfountain that 6 mil is nothing if it means wearing the very latest in gear one week before the rest of us.
Besides, what would you prefer.. invite some PUPs OR pay for multiple Meteor scrolls?

Not so much freaking out, it was just an anomaly i noticed, and didn't have en explanation for. Various item prices always go crazy after updates, but this was a bit after. And i had not heard anything about players using this spell in new content. So a price jump from normal players wasn't adding up at the time. If they are being used a lot for new delve, then that might explain it some.

Looks like the first delve boss went down earlier tonight. I was off by one day.

Just let 'em be I say. Every time they try to crush RMT, it screws with another revenue stream of mine.
