Controller SUDDENLY stopped functioning.

Well, before the update, everything was fine, both Graphics AND MY CONTROLLER functioned as it should.
But after the latest update, some of my graphics/animation filters somehow got turned on, and thus the combat was looking very.......pale. (BUT my controller was still functioning as normal!!)

SO, just to be sure, after turning the filters off, I decided to restore all setting to default on the ffxi config program, AND THAN, USING THE PLAYONLINE client, I ran a full ''file check'' (or whats it called) just in case of any possible future trouble.

AND THAN, I started to game again, BUT IMMEDIATELY NOTICED that my controller was NOT FUNCTIONING ANYMORE!

I thought it was NORMAL, coz i had reset my setting on the ffxi config program, so I opened it up and opened the gamepad controls window in it.

UNLIKE the rest of the options, ALL MY CONTROLLER SETTINGS WERE SAVED, they had NOT BEEN RESET, but no matter which button I press, the controller program of FFXI WONT RECOGNISE IT! :(

I thought the problem could be with windows, OR my controller itself, SO first i tested the gamepad on windows Control panel and it worked just fine, AND THAN I TRIED RUNNING IT ON OTHER GAMES ON MY SYSTEM, AND ALL OF THEM ARE FUNCTIONING AS NORMAL, without any hic-ups or any-other trouble.

So far I was using my wireless Xbox-360 controller, but because of the problem I decided to connected my Logitech rumblepad 2 to my system too. The windows recognizes the rumblepad 2 immediately, and it tests out fine on Control panel, BUT AGAIN, FFXI does not recognise it at all! Just like my xb0x controller, it works neither in ffxi config/gamepad settings OR in-game.

my controller stopped working right after update. works in ffxi config app but not game. logitech f710 (in proper mode). i hate moving around with the keyboard..

I think I know what your problem is. You have 2 controllers active installed on your system. The xbox controller setup may be conflicting with your runblepad setup. I have the f710 setups on my systems. If I switch to Directx mode it works like an xbox controller when I Load the game. However if I load the game under digital mode it loads as digital.

The one interesting this though is that if I enable direct-x mode while the game is in digital mode the controller stops functioning. Likewise if I load the game in direct-x mode and switch to digital it won't function. This leads me to believe the game isn't hooking the right controller and it causes the rumble pad to be overridden.

The same thing happened with teamspeak and ventrillo where the OS would attempt to utilize the blutooth handset for mic input even though it was turned off. I had to manually tell the system to use the built in mic/speakers and reload the software or it'd hook the wrong device.

Default your rumblepad then load the configuration program without the xbox usb hooked up. If it still doesn't work you might consider unhooking both controllers, removing the controllerx from the device panels completly then rebooting. Once you've reboted attach the rumblepad and let it locate/install the drivers. After that load the control panel and default all setting (keep your custom setup). After that change the settings and save them. If the controller works in the control panel load up FFXI and see if that fixed the issues.

I'm not tech support this is what I'd do so follow my advice at your own risk.

might be Razriel's problem, but i haven't installed my xbox controller since i reinstalled my system and the f710 won't work in either mode in game.. just the config app

update: had to unplug my Nostromo.. who's decision was it to allow you to switch controllers for pol but not ffxi... hope they fix it soon.. i'm not leaving it unplugged forever.
