So currently I've been trying to do Colonization Reives in Cerizak Battlegrounds, and the lag is unbearable, so i tried turning on the effects filters to reduce this lag. So as I understand it, turning the correct effect filters should stop certain animations from taking place, so therefor, if i turn on these filters:
Party=> non party pc
non party pc=> you
non party pc=>party
non party pc=> non party pc

essentially animations for players outside of the party shouldn't take place. However, animation still functions for them even after i turn on these filters, i even tried logging out of the game to see if that was needed and really it seems like these filters don't even work. Is it just me or is this retarded and not working as it suppose to.

I'm pretty sure you need to be engaged for them to take effect.

This here.

What I could go for is an option to just flat out not render any players not in your group, kinda like when you're fishing.

There is one effects filter that BREAKS all others. Something about ignore all effects while in combat (near the top of the list). This filter if not set right has priority over all other filters. No matter how you set the filters.

I had this issue on PS2 and PC settings changed it and suddenly the other effect filters started working right. This one filter setting effects all the other effect filters. Turn this one filter setting off and the others will work.
