Steps A:
Log in to play online.
Start FFXI.

Crash during loading screen.

Steps B: (what i was doing before the first crash)
Changed job to RUN/SCH
Left mog apartment
Made my way up to lower Jueno
Continued onto Upper Jueno
Crash during loading screen.

Date and time:
2:25 pm EST April 10 2013

Frequency:
Always

Platform:
PC

PC Manufacturer & Model Number:
ASUS Desktop PC CM6850 series

OS:
Windows 7 Home Premium

Graphics Card:
Nvidia GeForce GT 530

ISP:
Comcast

Connection:
Cable (direct connection to modem)

Additional Information:
I have attempted to do some simple troubleshooting such as;
*Restart Computer
*Check Files on POL,FFXI,Tetra Master (no errors)
*Run as administrator
* Keep all drivers up to date
*"Waiting a bit"
*Restarting modem/Router
*Disable Antivirus (it's added as an exception anyway)

Also my POL Viewer is working fine the problem only occurs after i select the character and attempt to load into the Upper Jueno Zone...
Hmm and lets see? No i havn't experience this issue before, No i have not been having any issues like lag, stutter, freezing or any glitch, prior to the error. The game worked perfectly fine (my client has been up for embarrassingly the last 3 days straight) and no i haven't installed anything new or have a program that would interfere.

Are you have this problem on another char, like a mule?

also, just to be sure, check your Windows Update history. Think it is right around the time for them to have pushed out updates again. You may not have knowingly changed anything, but Windows might have.

Other things to try: Check your hard disk for errors (tools section when you check properties of your hard drive in Explorer), and run a file check on both POL and FFXI.

Run the error check on the hard drive that has FFXI install on it.

First i like to say thank you for your assitance.

However, unfortunately the issue has not been resolved with either suggestion.

Additional Info:
*I do not have a mule to log into
*There are no errors on my hard drive I've scanned and checked them
* I'm aware of the windows updates but, the updates came out well after my first issue
Again the game was running fine before, i was just hopeing it could be resolved without a complete reinstall.
Considering my discs were from initial release and all the updates i wonder if there's some reinstall package they offer in these cases? or do i really have to do the 6hr update? plus seekers redownload.

There goes my schedule of trying to get things done... PLANS!! don't have them~ or count on things going your way

I wonder if a gm could just reset my character location.

Well got it to work so yay.

Additional info:
For those whom are interested, i saved macro's to server, then deleted it from client, then loaded macros and markers

It could be a networking issue. It's not very common, but it happens that access to certain IP's goes bonkers. The client uses different IP's for different zones, so this may require some in depth diagnosis to verify.

Sometimes the easy fix is actually easy to find in your Firewall or other security logs. If it is capturing an IP access and blocking it at the time you are zoning/logging in (when ever the disconnect/crash happens), then research that IP address to verify if it is leased to SE, and then allowing access to that IP (sometimes you can do this by right-clicking it in a firewall's log). If you don't feel comfortable doing all this, one simple thing to test is to bypass/shutdown all your security (including your router if using one--connect the PC directly to your DSL or Cable Modem) and see if the problem resolves itself. If it does, then you will need to find exactly what is blocking the access and work within the scope of that device/program's configuration options to resolve the issue.

If all things check out locally, then it could be something on the other side of your local devices. This could fall within the scope of multiple points of failures, from your ISP to everyone else along the way to SE's ISP to SE's servers and software. Ultimately, it will require doing some digging to find the specific route that is failing, then getting the right person involved to troubleshoot that segment of the route.

You can run netstat in a DOS window with the -a switch to see the state of all connections while you are trying to zone/login/etc., noting which ones are getting trapped in a waiting state. Then, verify these are SE IP addresses (just googling the IP usually leads to who it is leased to), and then run tracerts to them to see if there is a stall in route to them. If some are found to be flaky, forward that info to your ISP to see if they can investigate who is responsible for troubleshooting it and forward it on from there.

If you aren't familiar with this kind of thing, I understand it can be a bit intimidating at first, but it's a fairly straight forward process that has been detailed here before. Think I posted a how-to back during the O2/BT fiasco last year that was locking players out for a few weeks. Can probably find one such post and link it in if you want to go down this route.

EDIT:
Glad it seems to have resolved itself. Sorry, was in the middle of the wall of text when you posted. ^-^

I'm having the same problem but my OS is windows 8 x64. I read the above post, what I need to know is the path to windows update and where to seach for cpu errors?
