This is just an FYI post for anyone who bought SoA from SE via Digital River.
This is straight from an email I received from Digital River.

"All download products purchased through the Online Store have a period
of days in which you can complete the download. In the event the
download file needs to be accessed after this period of time, you may
have the option of purchasing the Extended Download Service. In
addition, we may also offer the option to purchase a Backup CD for the
downloadable software."

So make sure you back up those install files unless you feel like paying for the privilege of downloading something you already paid for the next time you need to re-install.

This is why SE needs to drop Digital River. If you bought this game on Steam, it's yours forever no matter what happens to your PC. And if this game were on GoG, the same thing. Yours forever no matter what happens.

There are better options out there, and I hope SE uses them.

Same, I got it from Amazon. I am glad they allow me to re-download it.

I had problems with them back when Microsoft was using them for their Windows Marketplace (which is now defunct) on Vista.

It's not too big of a deal to me as I'm sure I'll be able to find a torrent if I lose my backup, but still, in this day and age, bandwidth is cheap, theres no good reason to limit the time people can redownload software.

The problem is DR was probably the lowest bidder when SE decided it needed someone else to handle it's digital content.
