I have checked all the config tools for pol and the game ive also checked my drivers for my sound card the in game config tool and I do have sound effects for the areas. it seems i do not have any music for any zone or battles. I do have music and sound effect for pol.

Before logging in perform a File Check for FFXI. I had the same issue. After doing file check/repair 3 times it successfully fixed all files. Good luck!

Reinstall is generally a sure fire way to fix problems like this.

Did you check to see if there are any driver updates to your sound card?

jawaj
04-05-2013, 02:49 AM
there isn't and i still hear some sounds in game like sound effects so i don't think that would be the problem

You could also try to reinstall the sound driver. Your current one might have gotten corrupted and it is only somewhat working. Can also try updating windows. If you have another sound card around, install that one and see what happens.

Try uninstalling the game, make sure the install the folder where the game was install has been removed. Then run ccleaner (http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner), Click on registry and have to scan for problems then have it fix it. Keep running it until it find no problems.

MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP YOUR REGISTRY BEFORE RUNNING THE FIX. CCleaner will prompt you if you want to back up the registry before it runs its fix.

Did you look in the FFXI config? Click on the sound tab then make sure "enable sound" is check. You could try also checking "Always On" but I have no idea what that dose as SE dose not explain things...

Thank you for trying to help.I have checked the ffxi config in game and out of it i even tried turning it off to see if it work><. The problem starts as soon as I go from pol to the game I dont even have sound during the opening cinimatic. Always on just means if you play in windowed mode the sound is still heard even if you minimize the window or go into another window that is not the game.

So I have been trying to think of something else you can try but nothing is coming to mind other then uninstalling your sound driver and reinstalling it again. Open Control Panel -> click on Device Manager -> click the + icon next to sound, video, and game controllers then right click on the one that says you sound card and click uninstall. Then reinstall the driver from the malfunctions website.

Check your registry to see if the sound is turn on. To get there, hit the keys Windows key + r to bring up the run command then type regedit and hit enter. I'm not sure what version of windows you are using so I will list the path of both 32 and 64 bit I am also going to asume you are using the NA version of the game. 32 bit is HKEY_LOCAL_MACINE\Software\PlayonlineUS\SquarEnix\FinalFantasyXI and 64 bit is HKEY_LOCAL_MACINE\Software\Wow6432Node\PlayonlineUS\SquarEnix\FinalFantasyXI
Inside this path, look for a DWORD named 0007. Double clicking on it will open a window where you can change the value. Make sure this is set to 1. If it is 0 then change it to 1 and click OK.

BE CAREFUL WHEN CHANGING OR VIEWING THINGS IN THE REGISTRY

I am on windows 7 home premium 64 bit. I found the file and it was set to 1. All the music and sound effect are in the correct folders as well.

We are sorry to hear that you are having sound issues.

Can you please try using headphones and set your audio settings to stereo if they are set to 5.1, surround, or mono?

Also could you please check the status of your tuner to see if there are any corresponding auto settings for this system?

Have you tried any other audio output and audio settings to see if it fixes the issue?

We apologize sincerely for the inconvenience caused and hope this helps solve these issues. Please let us know if you require further assistance.

Would it be best to try and buy the ultimate seekers collection off steam and try it that way instead of the installer from the SE website? thats where my current version comes from

I dont think that would help....

You could try installing the game up to the last xpack and see if you still have sound. You could also try re-downloading the installer from SE store.

Has anyone considered that this is a direct-x hooking issue not the game or audio drivers? Sometimes direct-x gets muddled in installs.

I did have to redownload the installer because on my 4th attempt to reinstall it it just vanished from my system after i double clicked it as such i did start the game with out the latest expansion and still no music. Direct x hooking ? how would i solve that or attempt to.

Have you tested DirectSound in dxdiag.exe? Sometimes you need to notch DirectX acceleration back a notch with some cards/games.

I'm at a loss here. It sounds like something is turned off or malfunctioning on your end. Maybe the expansion install caused it maybe not.

I am having the exact same issue. I am on PC, I have drivers updated. I did a file check in beginning of POL viewer. In-game ALL sound effects/music is working just fine, EXCEPT Adoulin music. When I start up the game in character menu, it is silent, until a few minutes later(obviously after the adoulin track finishes and goes to next song) it starts playing Zilart/all other menu songs. Anyone have any ideas???? I also purchased this through pre order in square enix store, so I don't have a sure fire way to reobtain the files and reinstall, unless there's something I'm missing. Why didn't file check catch the songs?
