One job I'd love to see added to XI would be MIMES. (You know, besides chemists, geomancers and time mages)

They'd be able to mimic the buffs of enemies and friends alike, and spread them among the party. they'd be able to mimic and repeat weapon skills or abilities used by the party.

I think their two hour (I think True/Ancient Mimicry) would be to fully mimic one person in the party by mimicing everything about them, stats, gear, wyvern or automoton, abilities and magics, skill levels... (All level appropriate) Then activating the two hour of that class for the duration. Dancer's Trance and dance skills. Corsair's Wild Card. Summoner's astral flow and a random avatar spell. Or, if without a party perhaps a random out of all of them. Or even more fitting, a Mime without something to mimic cannot use it.

As for the look, I think the classic still stands as a great example of how they would look:

The rest, is up to the imagination!

Not only a fun idea, but the outfits are cute, and the second it came out I'd buy the expansion and start leveling it up to level whatever just to be awesome. D:

I wonder how a Mime burn would work...

...probably a whole lot of mimicry followed by death.

As long as i could play gogo's theme every time i activated the ja, then i approve this job

I'd imagine. xD Imagine two mimes trying to mimic one another. Infinite loop!

It would definitely be a job that goes in a party! :D

Win.

Plus Gogo should be an NPC if there are mimes hanging around. No question. Pre-reqs for unlocking would probably have to be high too.

General skill levels in all jobs is a start. I figure having jobs at level 30 would be enough. Most people collect em now anyways.

BUT no.. I don't think having GOGO around would be good. o-o Making his GEAR, however? :D

We never really find out what Gogo is. Man, woman...something else. Signs point to human given apparent body-type, hands and eyes. And of course there are those rumors that s/he's Daryl.

GOGO will be the secret life of Cid's teeth. After all, when you see those suckers... The rest of the face kinda blurs out and you're left with that horrifying scene...

O.O; what would happen if gogo mimic'd cids teeth...

"Shrouded in odd clothing... is this a man...? ...a woman...? ...or should we ask...?"

"A man shrouded in strange clothing... Or perhaps a woman? Perhaps not even human at all..."

We shall uncover the truth!

I'm pretty sure a Mime-burn would do nothing.
Player 1 uses Mimic.
Nothing Happens.
Player 2 uses Mimic.
Nothing Happens.

One mime dies, the others Mimic, the mob looks around curiously as 17 other players fall over...

I think this is very interesting, would have to be some limitation to it though. To better organize it:

[Job Ability]
Mimic Ability
LV.5 Mime
Duration: Instant Recast: 1:00
Mimics the most recent(or as an alternate option; One of the 3 most recent) Job Abilities performed by selected target.

[Job Ability]
Mimic Cast
LV.15 Mime
Duration: Instant Recast: 1:00
Mimics the most recent(or as an alternate option; One of the 3 most recent) Magic Spell performed by selected target.

[Job Ability]
Mimic Special
LV.30 Mime
Duration: Instant Recast: 2:00
Mimics the most recent(or as an alternate option; One of the 3 most recent) TP Abilities performed by selected target.

[Job Ability]
Mimic Pet
LV.50 Mime
Duration: 3:00 Recast: 10:00
Mimics the most recent(or as an alternate option; One of the 3 most recent) Pet summoned by selected target.

[Job Ability]
Impersonation
LV.1 Mime
Duration: 5:00 Recast: 2:00:00
Allows you to gain full benefit of selected target.
{Example}Say can use on an HNM such as Fafnir. Your Character will change into a MiniFafnir and you will gain full access to all of it's traits, abilities, and special attacks for 5 minutes.

This requires more thinking, but this is a rough idea of how the job "Mime" could be made. Please leave feedback or feel free to discuss how to alter these examples. Thanks!

Already thought of the idea of mimicking a monster. Trouble being than you mimick Shinryu and use his powers and everything get's out of whack.

That's why I think the Impersonation trait would have to apply to party members, activate their two-hour ability and skills.
A mime without something to mimic mimics nothing! o-o

And let's not forget mimicking the buffs or states of whatever you're targeting. It would need serious thought just to toss abilities out there..

You know, this would actual be kinda fun. You would be able to FCB Manaburn etc using Mimes as long as you had at least 1 war or 1 blm. A complete all-around job that is dependant on the jobs of other members in the party. Solo would suck though. I have read bad idea after bad idea for new jobs, but this is one job I would actually be for. Not to mention it is a job that can add without having to add much data, since it would mimic all of the others.

Well, if you look at the FFT mime, the Artifact Armor would end up being a really plain outfit with a bag over their head.

Not entirely either!

The power of the simulacrum was complete and total mimicry of all states!

So abilities of your party members? Yep. Their buffs and debuffs? Yep. Their actions and movements? Yep!

Mimicry is unto itself an art form. BLU mages are "empty vessels" that absorb abilities like a sponge. Mimes are simply wholly capable of imitation life itself.

Name one job in XI that doesn't have it's origins in Tactics.

All jobs in this game have originated from....EVERYOTHER FF game, because they were all generaly made by the same company.... the point is: everyone wants "Time Mage, geomancer" and now Mime, this is not FFT, these jobs won't even work in this type of game. and mime is espcially not going to work givin the factor of diffrent weapons that need to be used, unless you honestly think someone with a relic the mime is going to mimic, etc.

BLU is about as close to a "mimic" as you're going to get.

SIMPLE. :0 FIGHT UNARMED.

The attack speed and damage can mimic whatever is equipped, and if you mimic an enemy then you simply absorb their attacks. Give it a good timer for the ability and you'd be fighting on level with just about anything within your range of mimicry.
