View Full Version : Pet Enmity Generation

Currently, Beastmaster pets, both charmed and jug pets, Summoner avatars, and Dragoon's wyvern are unable to hold enmity any more. As a beastmaster, I can send in a pet and do nothing but let it attack for a good solid 4+ minutes, but as soon as I swing my axe once, the monster will turn to attack me. I am hearing the same issues from Summoners, who are being attacked by using their blood pact commands.
Just wanted to bring that up!

Yep, the only way to have your pet hold any hate currently is to WS and use Snarl right after it, but even with that, it does not last very long at all.

I can confirm that it is absurdly easy to pull aggro off avatar's currently, to the point of using hastega on Garuda after she's hit something 4-5 times can pull aggro sometimes. Don't bother trying to cast a heal if the pet is tanking. Ok for group play, painful for solo'ing.

Monster Name:
Labrynth Manticore
Steps:
Battling Manticores, sending in Garuda to agro and get a melee hit and then running up to melee myself, I can pull agro on the Manticore with one auto attack and a blood pact, despite Garuda getting in one to two hits.
Typical battle: Send in pet, pet hits for 160-200, I engage and melee with staff, 20-30 damage, I use blood pact: rage, pull agro. This also happens sometimes when I allow the pet to hit a second time before activating rage.
This is just an example of pet enmity not working well on the low end of the scale. As monsters get higher level and harder, my pet hits for less damage, generating less agro, and making it so that despite me letting her (or other summons) a large number of hits in, I can pull off my pets activating blood pacts or taking other actions (casting a cure spell), frequently resulting in me getting 2-3 shot (I’m a taru :P) **Please note I am using no gear which lowers the enmity my pet generates.
Hope this helps, I didn't want to go back to Adoulin and get killed a few more times for the sake of science so I worked with something less dangerous but should give you an idea how the scaling is off. This can be an issue on many of the higher level monsters.

I have also experienced problems with enmity on a pet job. I don't believe it is an issue of the pet generating no/low enmity, as I was in a duo. Copy and paste of "form" provided above follows:

~Battle.
Casting spells like paralyna and silena resulted in me (summoner) "pulling hate" (getting the attention of) the mob (enemy), away from my pet (Garuda, Carbuncle) and the other party member (Main jobs Red Mage, Blue Mage, varying)
* Please do your best to write using official terms for item names and skill/ability names. Please avoid any abbreviations or improper terms.
Pet (garuda, carbuncle) was unable to hold hate against enemies. At times, I had enmity when I had taken no action that would have normally generated it (ie paralyna/silena). I highly doubt it was a "hate reset" unless every new enemy in Adoulin zones have "hate reset" moves.
Other player in party was also unable to hold hate at times.
~Is hate decay too fast/broken?
~Was it due to a enemy/mob tp move that reset enmity?

Summoned the jug pet FaithfulFalcor on 99 Beastmaster/49Dancer job. Use the "Fight" command to have Falcor attack an Umbril monster in Adoulin. Let Falcor and Umbril fight each other for several minutes. After minutes pass, engage Umbril. First swing of axe caused the Umbril to change target to me. This was the first occurance, however it is not limited to Umbril. All monsters and pets, both charmed and jug pets are causing this issue. The Beastmaster's pet is unable to generate enough enmity alone to keep the monster from attacking the player. Player abilities such as "Spectral Jig" and "Ready" are causing instant target changes from the enemy, causing the enemy to attack the player.

Was killing Faunus Wyvern in Abyssea Grauberg tonight, atma of minikins monstrosity and razed ruins equipped, pets couldn't hold aggro with auto attacks, the Wyverns would actively attack me despite me standing around doing literally nothing after assaulting them.
Using a blood pact instantly pulled off the pet, and even hitting with 4k predator claws, the wyverns would sometimes return to attack me again before the 45 second blood pact cooldown was up. This is a bit absurd.

Soloing against monsters in various locations, one of which was a colonization reive. When fighting with an enemy, I would use a Lv75 Merit Blood Pact to deal damage, which ranged between 2-4k in damage. Prior to the version update and enmity changes, this would be sufficient to ensure that the monster would be focused in attacking my avatar only (no matter what I would do). Post update, any and all spells / pet commands / job abilities I use after the Merit Blood Pact was used would immediately cause the enemy to turn its attention to me.
