Hello,

I currently play on XBox 360 with the Vana'diel Collection 2008 version installed. When my Ultimate Collection -- Seeker's Edition disc arrives, while I:
1) be able to simply use it to install the expansion and then play using either disc
2) be able to simply use it to install the expansion and then play only using the UCSE disc
3) have to reinstall FFXI (through POL > Install > FFXI) using the UCSE disc and then play using only that disc (or either disc)
or
4) have to uninstall FFXI and POL entirely from the XBox, then reinstall POL and FFXI using the UCSE disc?

You'll be able to use either disc, but I believe you'll have to reinstall FFXI. I might be wrong on the last part, but I'm able to play FFXI on my Xbox with just the expansion disc.

only need to just install the addons or expansion(s) ya dont have
I play on PS2/PS3, 360 and PC
no re install needed and once installed, can use any disc to play
though because of glitch that never got fixed, I stick to using the original disc when I play on the 360
glitch is if ya exit to the dashboard on the 360 without exiting FF XI the right way through the option in game, Shut Down/Log Out the 360 will say Disc can not be read
or if ya exit game other ways, like power outage can case that to happen also
but if ya play game using origina; disxc, that came with FF XI, RoZ, CoP and ToAU, back when ToAu was released, never had prob
but have had that glitch happen when I played with the WotG expansion disc or 2008 collectors disc

I had the same problem with the "old" style 360, but with the newer slim 360 the shutdown problem no longer seems to be an issue for me. I use WotG disc atm to start up pol. But as far as the install, you will be able to pop in the expansion disc, install and play.

He's asking about the Ultimate Collection Seekers Edition, NOT the Seekers of Adoulin expansion disc. I got the same ultimate collection even though I already had the rest of the game installed and there is no option for installing *just* the expansion from the disc.

I contacted SE support about this but have not heard anything back. I had to reinstall the full game from the Ultimate Collection disc in order to get Seekers installed.

Don't worry, it only took about 16 hours.........

EDIT
I heard back from SE support. They sent me canned instructions for downloading and installing the PC version, even though I specifically asked for help with the Xbox 360 ultimate disc. Give these people a raise!

EDIT 2
It looks like the official answer from SE is that we shouldn't have purchased the ultimate collection, because we didn't need the other expansions. Of course if that were the case, they shouldn't have offered yummy bonuses like the Chocobo Shirt. :p

"* Regarding products containing expansion data
The ?Ultimate Collection? series contain all playable expansion contents at the time of their release. Expansion software is also available for purchase individually, so please make you purchase according to your gameplay needs."

So it sounds like option 3 from OP is the one that applies. That's a little disappointing. Not the end of the world, though.

Yeah, I reinstalled the whole thing because I wanted the new items, and now I am stuck with HDD errors and such. Started at 7 PM last night and can't get a single thing done.

Hmm, you may need to simply uninstall FFXI completely and then give it a fresh install. If that's the case, make sure you save your config data (http://ffxi.gamerescape.com/wiki/Macros#Storing_Configuration_Data_on_PlayOnline_Servers) first!
