To make OAT Great Sword (Fulgurante), you need to start out with a Break Blade.
"Break Blade" supports PLD/DRK/RUN. Fulgurante supports PLD/DRK.
I happen to have a OAT Fulgurante.
People in Jeuno, says the Elemental trial GS supports RUN, though.
How can you loose support for a Job during somewhere in the trial stages? Isn't that wierd? I want Fulgurante on RUN ; ;

It's the same with Staff trials
Staff starting weapon: Crook WHM/BLM/RDM/BRD/SMN/SCH
First staff on Physical Path : Shillelagh BLM/SMN/SCH

Admittedly by not giving RUN the OAT they screwed it out of one of the best weapons it could have had without going through the horrors of... VW...
I think I'd rather go through VW...

You would rather go through VW trying for the .1% drop rate GS from Ig-Alima, which on average would probably be 200+ hours of work, than to make an OAT GS which could be done in about 50 hours of work easily and is better?

I think they held back on giving RUN the multi attack weapons because they want to see where the job goes first -- they tend to hold off as part of a trial and error process for new jobs. It is much easier to add something than it is to take something out (with regards to community acceptance.)
Meanwhile, I was thinking of some elemental swords that could help RUN, particularly: -PDT, +AGI/EVA, Lowers M.DEF (I feel like this would boost the effectiveness of RUN's en-effects as well as its Effusions), and TP Bonus.
I plan on building all of the above and using them in the appropriate scenarios, myself.

Wait what? 12 hours easily... I don't even... don't laugh but it even took me longer to get a Blue Abyssite that's how lucky I was... even the lottery pop NM's easily take longer then 12 hours.
Anyway I agree its better then a 0.1% drop rate but please don't understate the work it takes to get a Fulgurante... people who believe it and start it get demotivated really quick when they realize 12 hours is pretty much impossible.

I think he's referring to the Elemental Magian trials (which RUN has access to.)

No, I actually did mean the OAT GS, which I admit I did forget many of the trials involved, and was not taking it all into account at the time. Though its not really that bad, the trials are all easy except for Krab shells, and even that is not to bad if you have a few friends or buy the Abyssites.
NM camping trials, thats 3 trials at 3 kills each, say they each take an average of 1 hour and 30 minutes, that means 13 hours roughly.
Kill trials are Plants and Ladybugs, I myself did the plants by joining a FC in Altepa, Mandragoras made it fly by, then the Ladybugs, and they were done in a party with other DRKs who were doing the same thing, so teaming up seems like a viable option, seeing as they were people I had never met before. So I say this takes probably 6 hours total if you do it with some assistance.
Krab Shells are easy to obtain if you do not have to bad of luck, or if you have friends. I myself had friends who were doing VNMs for Emps at the time, and they let me have their Blue Abyssites, so it went by much faster in my case. On average when doing it with my other character I got about 1 pop every 2 hours, so 10 hours for the full trial.
The Bee and Mikey take a few hours since you have to wait for them to repop, but with a THF and WHM you can kill them both in about 1 hour to finish the bee and another 2 hours for Mikey's Nuggets.
Souls can take some time, but if you can get some friends or a party together for Bastion then you will be fine, even solo some jobs can do it in about 5 fights or less, if you win 3 runs you should be finished with that alone so about a hour at least, at most I can not see it taking more than 3 hours unless you are soloing it on a job which is bad at it, or you simply get screwed by the event itself.
Shades should be finished in no time, most people have tons of Dom points from NMs, parties, and more, so this is fairly trivial, I honestly can not estimate the time needed because I never personally have tried to farm these points myself.
Mirrors and Sand can be bought from Bazaars, two Dyna runs should buy all of them you need, so I say 4 hours for this.
So a total of about 40 hours, less than two days to do it. My estimation was way off, I admit, but its still not that bad really. The point of my post in either case was to point out that the OAT is not a ton of work by compare to going through VW, where on average you would have to kill Ig-Alima 1000 times. Assuming you gathered together a party within 30 minutes, and only took a hour from that time to do 6 kills, it would take you about 250 hours, a full 10 and a half days of fighting Ig-Alima non-stop, to get the sword. The OAT would be a much preferred option, I doubt anyone would rather go through VW than to do the 40 hours worth of work involved in an OAT.

My NM camping trials took me 3 days. So no. A MINIMUM of 40 hours, maybe, but definitely far from a cap. It took me and a friend tag team camping Intulo for 8 hours just to see the first one. The biggest problem with the NM camping trials is that they are disgustingly random, sometimes you get the NM within the first few minutes of its window, sometimes it takes 3-5 hours, some times even more. Intulo and Orctrap for my H2H trials both took ages to appear, and Orctrap made a point of taking 2-3 hours each spawn.

Whatever 40 hour is still in a prefect world, most people take more then a week to finish the Fulgurante, but yeah its still easier then a low drop rate but anyway it wont be avail to RUN anyway.

Abyssites upgrading are random too, I gave estimated times if you are not unlucky, but not optimum times either, and allowed for some variance in there as well. I know full well how long some trials can take, my Almace took a very long time and there is a reason I have not made another Emp since then. The entire point of what I said was that it is possible to do in much less time than the other option which is currently RUN's best weapon.

Your point was noted but dude stop your calculations get a Fulgurante and then talk back here, if you have one than explain me how you think you can buy a Blue Abyssite.I have had one for months. All you do to buy an Abyssite, shout in Jeuno, find someone with one they do not need, offer them money to pop the NM, have them pop the NM, kill the NM, give them money, lot your shells, obtain your shells, repeat until at 10/10 shells. I have seen many people buy Abyssites like this, not just Blue, also Orange for the Slime required for the OAT Polearm, and I am sure everyone has seen shouts to buy Abyssites for Colorless Souls in Heroes of Abyssea Areas. Like anything else in this game, it can be sold if you want to, and it can be bought if you offer enough money, in the case of Blue Abyssites, they often are shouted for at around 200~300k on Phoenix.

Right thought I was going mad, cant find the buy Blue Abyssite part anymore. Anyhow like I stated after I edited my previous post, it takes most people more then a week, I for instance bough the Silver Mirrors and Riftsand on my server but there weren't too many people selling them and the ones who did sell huge amounts, asked crazy amounts for them.
But with A+ and 8 GS merrits, RUN might turn out quite powerful with an AoT :) so I can understand why they left RUN out. Just hoping for RUN only GSes in the future then.

I agree that they need to give us some RUN only GSs in the future, but there is no way the OAT would have been overpowered for the job in all honesty. DRK has access to it and while DRK does not have A+ skill, it has more than enough gear to make up for it, not to mention the massive Attack Bonus traits that RUN lacks. The reason they excluded RUN is because they determine the jobs right after the initial weapon trial, same with staves, and due to this it screwed RUN out of the OAT basically. STR GS may end up being better seeing as RUN needs the Attack bonus anyways, but I am not sure either way.
