I kinda picture them being in some back room somewhere going "hey remember the last update? lets make this one just as bad to see if they really want it" and the res of them laughing

lmao, i wonder if the staff from the old FFXIV took over for this update process?! (click click click) Main dev "well.. i just broke the patching system... brunch anyone?"
As much as i agree that SE is probably hiding, I too would get sick of all the messages saying "why you no allow manual patch! RAGE!"

Well... a manual patch would be a minor solution to this problem mainly for PC users.. allowing xbox / ps2 users to update via the autopatcher... holy ballz my updater is working O_O...

Well here is the thing... the mass amount of people playing are PC users so minor solution or not it would alleviate a lot of download traffic and make things bearable.

it wouldnt alleviate much DL traffic, some would go to the auto patch (lazy people) then people like myself who want to do shit quickly would get the manual patch.. But in retrospect the download data comes from some source right? meaning we would still be stressing the system.. so putting the files on two different download servers would alleviate some of it. But most people would utterly choose to not do it their self.

In most cases when a game has an auto patcher and a manual, they are the same source from two different places. However I can not argue to this because i dont know with 100% certainty. Also I do agree that people are lazy and would normally stick to the auto patcher but you would be surprised how motivated lazy people get when the auto patcher reads 7 hours. It is from observation alone that i have seen manual patches work well and cut traffic, so im in no position to argue.
