Purpose: Hvergelmir's Myrkr more accessible. Elimination/or reduction of magetp loss upon weapon switch. More/Adjust current MP Oriented Weapon skills' range.
Empyrean weapons were made with the idea of being some of the top tier of weapons. By obtaining one and it's corresponding weapon skill, this should give you an advantage over most weapons. Hvergelmir's weapon skill is meant to give you a substantial amount of mp. Your advantage is to be in the mp department.
The mage tp system does not support owning hvergelmir. The design of mages is made that you need to switch weapons quite often. 8 elements. Multiple types of magic. Playing by this design, this resets your tp to 0. Locking one's weapon breaks away hinders maximizing the effectiveness of your spells. Especially if you want to keep staff on until you have 300 tp.
Embrava and it's rapid tp growth really made this staff shine. Embrava has now been slaughtered. (RIP)
Very rarely in endgame is it feasible for a mage to walk up to a mob and melee until it has enough tp to weapon skill and make use of the weapon skills. The mp weapon skills are not designed FOR mages, but are most benificial for them. Myrkr, and it's range, should be shared by some (or even all) of the other mp gaining weapon skills.
It's not fair to have to put in the work for an empyrean and have to purchase tp wings to make this weapon effective. So, no, items are not a satisfactory solution.
WIth Occult Accumen(and spreading it's effect to jobs like smn and whm), i don't see it fair to completely eliminate tp loss, but for it to bottom out at 0 causes too few opportunities for mages to make use of weaponskills. Why else would there be a need to level a weapon's skill Or obtain a Hvergelmir?
