PlayOnline Wallpaper options/lack of

I just recently reinstalled FFXI and PlayOnline on my PC and I noticed that there are no options aside from the default "blue" wallpaper for the PlayOnline viewer, within it's settings. The background music and ambient sounds however can be changed and there seems to be a moderately decent amount of choices.

I was concerned because when I installed FFXI on my PS2 ages and ages ago, I remember reading in the Instruction Booklet that the wallpaper could be changed and it even showed an image of the example user with a "Female Hume" background.

Any help on this issue would be great, and thanks in advance!

(On a side note, I googled this subject a few times and tried to see if there were the original backgrounds available anywhere to download but I didn't find anything, nor would I know how to add them if I did. :confused: )

They are available to download through the playonline viewer. Can't remember the path to get to them but there are a few to choose from. Mine is a picture of the crystal from the opening scene and my wife has a moogle and chocobo background.

Hmm I thought I had looked pretty extensively, before the servers going down, but perhaps I missed it? :(

Yeah, quite easy to miss. They actually need to be downloaded before you can use them. I'll post the path soon as servers are back up unless a GM steps in first.

Its under Extras, from there you'll see "Wallpaper Downloads" or something similar. Then you can download any that they have. Theres also a place you can put your own pictures in the playonline folder but I can not remember where.

Mustakrakish is correct. Once you are logged into the PlayOnline Viewer, you will want to select the option for “Extras” on the main PlayOnline menu. From there, you will have a variety of selections for various extra features offered through the PlayOnline Viewer.
