Ok, after all of the issues regarding the UI and whatnot due to the issues of the PS2, why aren't they making a PSN version or a disc of the ultimate collection for the PS3? What SE should be doing is scrap the PS2 altogether, don't even bother trying to work that version, and switch over to the PS3 now that ppl have enough units out worldwide. That way they won't be hindered by that system and can try to improve it.

Idk if ppl already made talks about this but will put my thoughts on it, how about yours?

you talking about a complete core overhaul for a game, be happy XIV gonna be on PS3, they already said they not bringing XI to PS3

All non PS2 versions of the game are direct ports of the PS2 version- But the processor archecture is much more similar to eachother than the PS3's. To put it on the PS3 (natively) would be a massive undertaking. You'll have to settle for backwards compatible PS3s if you want to play it on one.

That doesn't make any sense. By that logic, and u said all, they wouldn't be able to directly port HD games on the latest systems due to it's hardware. Ppl wouldn't be seeing KH, or the remake of FFX-X2, etc. and ppl wouldn't be able to play FFXI on the 360. It's all on the coding. Either they can't or they won't, but to me it's a good time to do it not only because they stop producing the PS2, but that same system is holding back on what they want to do.

What does FF14 got to do w/ the topic at hand?

That doesn't make any sense. By that logic, and u said all, they wouldn't be able to directly port HD games on the latest systems due to it's hardware.Things like the HD edition of FFX/X2 and KH are not ports- they're being rebuilt- The PSP/GBA/ipad/whatever versions of FF1 are not ports of the original NES version- they're remakes. That is what these are- remakes.

All non PS2 versions of the gameI'm specifically talking about FFXI here. All non ps2 = PC, xbox.

PS2 classics on the PS store are, as far as I'm aware, emulated. If they did offer it, it would not be an HD remaster, it would be the PS2 version, untouched.

Either they can't or they won't,It's most likely both "can't" and "won't". I'm sorry to rain on your parade, but a ps3 (or ps4) version of FFXI is pretty much a pipe dream.

That they not gonna waste time on rewriting the core, and transfering a 11 year old game over to PS3, specially since it is not worth the money that gonna be invested in it, look at how EU not even gets the ultimate collection while that is just a region lock that has to be changed, they will not be selling to much copies on PS3 to make it worthwhile. The X360 was released at a later date because they had to rewrite the info as to how the IBM processor reads data.

And they could of dropped the PS3 version of FFXIV least they know they can still make money out of it, since it is still new, they brushed out the flaws greatly, making it worth the money again pretty much.

Tho if they really wanted to make good money they would of released a HD version of FFVII on PS3 after that tech demo years ago, but they won't cause PS1 runs games differently then PS2, and PS3, so they would have to make the whole game from scratch, that is why VII, VIII, and IX are skipped cause X/X-2 are released for PS3/Vita soon (fall of this year i believe).[/off-topic]

Old horse, that's been beaten more than enough here (was another a thread about it on the front page until last week or so). SE made up their minds a long time ago on this issue (like, 4 or 5 years ago, if not further back). Link to transcription of an E3-2009 interview found via a quick google search:

Q: Why did you decide to make a new game rather than continue to evolve FFXI?
A: It all comes down to, originally, FFXI was designed for the PS2. It then moved to PC and Xbox 360. A lot of people have asked for a port to the PS3. With an MMORPG of this size, you have to develop new content. Porting to a new technology would take a lot of effort. Instead, we decided to use that time to make something new.

True, if it use most of the assets that it's considered a remake.

I doubt they'll remaster FFXI lol. That'll be hilarious if they announce that. Maybe if they taken the coding on the 360 and rewrite it then it can work.

U are right though, it is a pipe dream, but I don't want to see this game being held back over a 11 year old console cause I see them really want to improve this game.......if they don't do something stupid.

Ah ok, I had a feeling I was missing something lol. So I guessing they just gonna eventually gonna let the PS2 die out after what I experienced w/ the HDD issues, black screens, limitations as a whole before I switch to PC.

I had no idea that they region lock on the EU. That's mad stupid imo. The PS3 version of FF14 gonna be pretty weird of it has all that frame issues. Well if the game doesn't sell well within a few months it could happen. I would see them making alot of money remaking FF7, 8, & 9 especially if ppl either kickstart or put up a voting forum to see who will buy it in limited copies....of course its not gonna happen.

Nope, don't have time to read every post.

Nope, don't have time to read every post.

But you still expect community reps to do so?

Besides, we're not talking about a needle in a haystack here. See that little box in the upper left there? I type "ps3 port" in there, click the little button, and right on the first page I find a relevant thread.

I know this isn't a new concept, but i figure we should keep complaining about it. I would really like to see XI released on the PS3.
It's nine pages deep and barely only five months old. And note the way even the parent post notes it "isn't a new concept."

You have said absolutely nothing that hasn't been said before by many people, loudly and repeatedly. You didn't even try to see if anybody else said the same thing (let alone said it better).

And thus the utility of these forums, to S-E and players alike, goes down another notch.

Yes, cause this is pretty much new, after all they are trying to please us to keep this game afloat....

I mean if that's not the case then why create a forum?

Honestly I think a port for the PS4 is more likely due to the change away from the PS3 cell processors. The PS4 will have a more PC-like and easier to use architecture.
