View Full Version : Can't preorder Seekers, Music Box sold out
Barfoholix
03-20-2013, 04:18 AM
This seemed like the most appropriate forum for this issue.
I'm trying to pre-order the Seekers Ultimate Collection, but I'm unable to as the music box bonus is considered sold out. The exact message is "We're sorry but FINAL FANTASY XI: Musicbox Adventures is currently out of stock. Please return to the Shopping Cart and remove the product to complete your order. We apologize for any inconvenience."
Is there an ETA on when this will be resolved? It recommends removing it from the cart, but that is the only item on the order that can't be modified. I'm really not that interested in the music box so if there is a way to complete the order without it please let me know.
Thanks!

I am also having this problem. I tried to order 2 copies and upon clicking "submit" I got an error message:
"We're sorry but FINAL FANTASY XI: Musicbox Adventures is currently out of stock. Please return to the Shopping Cart and remove the product to complete your order. We apologize for any inconvenience."
I hit edit and tried to remove the product "musicbox" from the list of items in my cart but unlike the other items I could not change the [2] to a [0]. I tried purchasing 1 instead, and I got the same error. I tried logging in as a different user and still no luck. I dont know how you can be out of stock on a digital download item... but like Barfoholix I do not mind completing the order without the music box, or being provided a link to download the music box at a later time.
Please fix this! Thank you!

Probably the default error as the shirt isn't even in the game yet.

so zubis you preordered and got the codes for the in game items? were they separate for the beret and shirt. I know how it was for past collections but i want to know for this one if you could.
also i ordered the collection for my new mule back in jan 2012, and im trying to login with that account i made on the store and its sayin i dont exist. everything i read said my SE account info for which i use to set up my subscription payments works but it is not (it does let me into the subscription thing tho). Id hate to take the time to register a new account just to have it tell me it exist already. Did they wipe previous accounts or something? Id like to get in there and preorder already!

I am with Tsukino_Kaji on this one. I was expecting to get the discounted price of $19.99 not $39.99. I never saw any disclaimers that the discounted price was limited in quantity or offered for a limited time. I am planning to buy 3 of these expansions and I would have had all 3 at the discounted price yesterday had it not been for this error on SE and Digitalrivers end.
Please reinstate the discount, and properly notify your customers.

Yesterday during the live Seekers stream I asked in chat if anyone got the discounted price, but it seemed like no one did. I explained the issues we had but most people just commented it was a glitch and forget about it.
Today I got a reply from an inquiry I sent to digitalriver. It seems like a simple "generic reply"... there is no resolution.
Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting the Square Enix online store.
The Square Enix online store strives to offer the products at the lowest
available prices. Unfortunately, if the discount is no longer availalbe,
its possible that the promotional offer is already expired. We have
reported this to our management, please kindly check the online store
from time to time to see if
the promotional discount will be extended.
Sincerely,
Christian F.

So, I take it we either pay the full price and feel bitter about it, or check for a sale in a few months when sales start to dwindle... Guess it was too good to be true after all.

Thank you for contacting SQUARE ENIX support,
At this time we would strongly suggest keeping your current pre-order as the current price is 39.99 USD. Please also keep in mind that the price my fluxuate and if you wish to have that price you will need to cancel and re-order to get this price unless otherwise noted. We hope that this information has been both helpful and informative.

I did the same thing, pre-ordered as soon as it was possible and there was nothing about any promo items or music boxes. I'm not too outraged about it though, what really bothers me is the Xbox copies are not digitally available so I have to wait around for a few weeks while everyone else gets to have fun.

My email confirmation included the four items. It just didn't include the codes for each one. I just received the beret code so I'll assume I'll get new emails for the code of each when the game is released...

Greetings,
The price point of $19.99 that some users were seeing for the FFXI: Ultimate Collection Seekers Edition was not a limited run promotion, or a reduced price discount for a limited time, but simply a pricing error that was corrected as soon as it was found. While a handful of users were able to order at this price, it was not intended and has been corrected to its normal price of $39.99. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.
As for users that have been receiving their bonus item codes when pre-ordering from our online store, this was also an error on our part.
We are still currently discussing how to best follow-up on the situation and will update as soon as we have more information.

The correct price should have been $19.99. This company keeps telling us that they are short staffed and under-budgeted every time anyone discusses improvements to the game. Charging $39.99 for a game that doesn't get proper support / updates is a ballsy move in and of itself. Never mind the fact that the game is ten years old or the fact that you still charge the full subscription price every month. You're pretty much just gouging customers at that price.

If you don't think it's worth $40, then don't pay $40; it's that simple. If nothing else, the price will eventually drop, as can be seen by the current price of Ultimate Collection Abyssea Edition.
Seriously, your decision whether or not you actually pay $40 for this will speak your opinion far louder than posting gripes here.

Seriously, your decision whether or not you actually pay $40 for this will speak your opinion far louder than posting gripes here.Actually, not buying the expansion and keeping silent (or anything else) tells the producers nearly nothing. Was it because of the price? Was it the product quality? Is FFXI a dying game not worth investing any more money in? Do they just really hate Geomancers and Rune Fencers? Is it a protest against the evils of colonialism and in favor of native rights, even when the natives are mentally handicapped lizardpeople? Who knows? "Vote with your wallet AND NOTHING ELSE" has always been an absolutely terrible way of getting what you want, because strangely enough, corporations are not psychic.
What every "don't buy it and shut up" post like yours mean are the same thing: "I don't care about YOUR needs, but I want the forum to cater to my desire not to see any point of view not my own. I feel I can demand this because I consider myself more important than you". And the correct response is always the same: you are not the forum's only user worth considering, other peoples' opinions matter, and if you don't enjoy reading it, then don't.

Parent just complained about the price; he never said he didn't buy it.
Was it because of the price? Was it the product quality?
You just said the same thing two different ways.
Who knows? "Vote with your wallet AND NOTHING ELSE" has always been an absolutely terrible way of getting what you want, because strangely enough, corporations are not psychic.
And when 99% of the complaints boil down to "S-E doesn't listen," how far will that get you? Either this particular complaint accomplishes nothing, or everyone else's is meritless.
And the correct response is always the same: you are not the forum's only user worth considering, other peoples' opinions matter, and if you don't enjoy reading it, then don't.
I hope you realize that, if the OP does pay the full $40 anyway (or already did), he'll have invalidated not only his own argument but also your argument that complaints in these forums are even worth it for S-E to listen to.

wrong, adolin price is 29.99. since you're posting= you already have FFXI.
the "update old ffxi dev team" is "short staffed" but old ffxi is 10$ only (when bought with adolin and you get bonus item)

Register early, so we can avoid congestion on launch day. Download servers won't be open until launch day however, guaranteeing congestion. The fact that they acknowledge congestion possibilities and then go ahead with a release schedule that will guarantee congestion provides me with infinite lols.

Man, I'd hate to think how some of you would complain if you were buying the JP release since they're paying $42USD (http://store.jp.square-enix.com/series/211/all) for the expansion alone, and $65USD (http://store.jp.square-enix.com/detail/SE-G0044?mmcd=official_ff11_vc4) for the Ultimate Collection.
Not that I would mind a sale or something, I'm as much of a cheapskate as the next guy. Just...I'm glad I don't pay the inflated price for games that Japan always seems to have, heh.

ok susan, THIS is why we don't hire second rate companies to sling our products, aka digital river. you see in fact, choosing these companies is just asking for trouble. you know there newbie, instead of just going with steam, which was tried tested and true, you decided to save a few pennies so that you could afford that new dress you've been dying to get; and by doing that you've gone and LOST yourself money in the process. good going there newbie.

lolno. Buying the steam collection was a horrible mistake. It doesn't let you open more then one instance of the game, if you need to uninstall you have to do more work, and the config rarely works right. I paid 10 extra bucks for the collection for PC just to get XI off my steam

Cause I am fairly sure that there is a way to do such a thing. The point being in either case, they chose a terrible way to sell the game, rather than a well known way which a ton of people see, talk about, and use on a daily basis, in this case, Steam. Others use Gamestop, Amazon, and more, all of which were better options, and yet, not chosen.

It's fairly easy to use PlayOnline/FINAL FANTASY XI with a Steam install without actually using Steam. Simply running the executable located in the installation directory alleviates this. (Or using windower.) In either case, Steam is likely one of the fastest methods of re-installation and I don't know why so many people are against it.
Yes it's stupid that SE doesn't host there updates as .torrents/the entire game as a download for us paying customers, but something is to be said about the game still having the file-by-file update system 12 years later.
For reference the Steam installation directory for FINAL FANTASY XI can usually be found at
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ffxi\SquareEnix
As a side note/question: Who was sending out the emails with the activation codes for shirt/hat? SE themselves? or is DigitalRiver sending them out? Also someone should post when SE starts sending out activation codes for SoA. Thanks.

If individuals recived a listed and advertised price, then other individuals would tried to order at that price and were deined access, have a right to that price as well.
And how can the pricing shown be such a small error that you're trying to make it out to be? It wasn't that someone accidently typed in 19.99 instead of 39.99. The 39.99 was crossed out, the 19.99 was placed next to an additional icon that said "promo price" and it said "you save $20."

if SE or any of their authorized retailers actually advertised the product as 19.99 they would in fact be legally obligated to provide that price to ANYONE who provided proof of having seen the advertised product of 19.99. since SE has actually put out an admission of fault, they have now removed the need for evidence of the advertisement. all one would simply need to do is to state that they purchased the game, or intended to purchase, due to the lower advertised price and SE would legally have to provide the product at that price. so anyone who was willing to pursue SE legally would actually win the case. now nobody in their right minds is going to waste thousands upon thousands of dollars to take SE to court over 20 bucks.
small and short is: if SE tries to charge you more than what you initially paid for a product as advertised, then they are breaking the law, which at that juncture they would be legally liable for a number of lawsuits that would be worth pursuing. SE has a legal team specifically for dealing with debacles like this so i doubt they'll be asking for their 20 bucks back at any point in time.

lolno. Buying the steam collection was a horrible mistake. It doesn't let you open more then one instance of the game, if you need to uninstall you have to do more work, and the config rarely works right. I paid 10 extra bucks for the collection for PC just to get XI off my steam
oh you poor poor soul. if you cant run the FF launcher via the route mentioned above, right click and run as admin. for some reason the steam version can be funky like that.

Get real jobs and stop being so cheap people. If you like a product, you should want to support the company that makes it. I don't know why so many people feel the need to be in constant opposition to SE when they just pumped out an expansion for us that we've been asking for for years, and are generally giving us the things we ask for now. I'm also entertained by how people become lawyers whenever it's convenient and we're all of a sudden "entitled" to a price, mostly because they want the price, and they wouldn't be so quick to say anything if the price was advertised too high. If anything digitalriver was probably in breach of their minimum advertised pricing agreement when they made the error and SE didn't authorize anything of the sort. You're about as entitled to that price as you are your welfare check I suppose. Gooooooo 'Merica!

Lol way to make a really stupid post about poor people. Ever hear the one about a fool and his money? You see... Smart people don't buy stupid crap just because they can afford it. In this case, people are more or less forced to purchase a crappy expansion because not doing so would have a huge negative impact on the game that they already paid for (and continue to pay for every month). There is no discounted monthly fee for people who don't buy the expansions. They pay the same price as people who have the expansions. I could buy thousands of copies at $40 if I felt like it, but that would be stupid when the expansion is probably not even worth $20 yet.
TLDR; if you think people are being cheap then feel free to purchase and distribute copies to the needy mister money bags.
I have both a wallet and a keyboard. I can post my gripes on here and speak with my wallet. As was already mentioned, there are a million reasons why a person might choose not to buy this expansion and none of them are expressed by simply not buying it. More important is the fact that speaking with your wallet inevitably has a negative effect on the game and I don't want to ruin the game out of spite. I want the game to actually be worth $39.99 on top of the dues I already pay.

i am not sure some people know the meaning of the word mistake... whether the person who updated the page was confused between the collectors edition with abyssea and the new one that isnt out yet, or simply just stupidly put the 19.99 there and crossed out the 29.99, doesnt matter. it was a mistake.
And the price there isnt what i would call "Advertised" price. advertised means there was ads <--- [see ads=advertisements] whether on TV, newspapers, or an Ad on a webpage. Did you click a banner ad that said now 19.99?! or did you try to buy it saw the price that was a mistake and assume that it was intended and thusly advertised and thusly locks SE into offerin this price? From the sounds of the whole thing the price wasnt 19.99 very long either before it was fixed.
Why would anyone assume it was less than just the expansion alone cost anyway?

Why would anyone assume it was less than just the expansion alone cost anyway? Why does the Abyssea Ultimate Collection cost the same amount as a single expansion or add-on when it contains all 4 expansions as well all 6 add-ons and the original game itself? Prices do not always make sense.
