New in blu!

Hi everyone,

I just unlocked BLU and so far am really enjoying the job. I had a few questions and would appreciate any pointers.

First off, I was trying to learn Bludgeon at level 14 and just cannot seem to get it. I know the spell is usable at 18 but I also know that you can learn the spells at a lower level. Is there a cap on how many levels lower u can be? I looked up the spell and I certainly have enough skill in blue magic to learn it.

Secondly, burst affinity. Is this only usable in parties to get a magic burst? I only ask this because everyone says that BLU can self skillchain but, only once u hit 40+. Before 40 are you able to say, use a ws, then cast a spell for a burst solo or do you actually need 2 ws in a row first to be able to burst?

1) For spell learning, level is only a secondary factor in your ability to learn a spell as it limits your skill. Skill is the only thing that you need at a certain number in order to be able to learn a spell. For Bludgeon, you need 27 skill which you can get at level 8 or higher. 2) Burst Affinity not only allows your spells to magic burst, but it also applies a multiplier to magical blue magic cast while under the effects of it. Physical blue magic is unaffected by Burst Affinity and is instead enhanced by Chain Affinity (and later, Efflux). To Magic Burst you have to have had a skillchain go off on a monster previously that correlates with the element of the spell that you wish to burst with, i.e. Fusion in order to Magic Burst with Bomb Toss. The Skillchain can be made by you or others.

It's mostly targeted at people at the level cap, however there's things that can be gleaned from it for lower levels too such as useful self skillchains and what abilities and spells do.

Wow thanks so much for the reply! I did manage to get Bludgeon, I think I was just having bad luck learning it. As for Burst Affinity, I understand what you mean. I just learnt it earlier tonight but, haven't had much luck in Gusgen Mines (everything dies too quick).
