Error 1158 on trying to update. Prepares then fails, please help.

I've not played since September but I am trying to update so I can play once more. I get to the final page on the Play Online viewer and click PLAY. An update is needed. It prepares the update to 100% but as the actual update starts it stops and gives me an error - 1158. Please help, thanks.

Thank you for the quick respose but reading that does it want me to uninstall ffxi completely before i follow those steps?

Rather than following the "proper" uninstallation procedure, they want you to go into your folders and erase the files directly.

Basically, nuke C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ffxi\ and then start Steam.
