So I'm looking at the self-skilchain guide on ffxipedia and am disappointing that the list of spells used for SCs rarely go past 75: I'm sitting there meriting atm before uncapping. Surely with the huge list of new spells we get, we should be able to set a fire SC without pinecone bomb, bludgeon or uppercut. Cap for gravitation is a level 60 spell. Induration is 63. Impaction is 63 for swords. Scission is 63. Liquefaction, pointed out above is capped at 60.
The post 75 spells listed are Goblin Rush, Quad. Continuum, Bloodrake, Final Sting, Benthic Typhoon, Amorphic Spikes, Barbed Crescent....of which most are listed for Level 3 SCs.
So the question is, are they're more that the guide-writer didnt know, expecially for level 1 and 2 SCs? I'm learning so many fantastic spells but Dont want to use them b/c My sets already full with SC ability spells, 2 heals (magic fruit and healing breeze), Zeph Mantel, Diamondhide, Refueling, and tossed in a few for some traits. I am sitting at 48/50 (have all 5 ranks in Assimilation)

I can't speak to why the wiki was updated the way it was but I can come up with a good idea as to why only level 3 skillchains were updated.
The fact that you're only getting a portion (50% or 60%) of the spell's damage with level 1 and 2 skillchains instead of 100% of a level 3 make going lower much less appealing. Combine that with the fact you have to use either weaker weapon skills or spells to create a level 1 or 2 skillchain you're left questioning why you didn't just use Chain Affinity to up the damage of a spell and used a high damage weapon skill which likely would result in much more damage. Lastly if you're after Magic Bursting well by only focusing on level 3 skillchains you're open to MB 4 element options per skillchain option instead of 1-2.

That made alot of sense, thank you! Guess I'm gonna have to go figure out how to get Expiacion for the level 3 dark and continue working at getting Cannonball for the Light lvl 3.

Or work on an almace/WoE sword for CdC (which is super sexy with amorphic spikes)

It's important to remember that skill-chains are used to increase your damage. They aren't a goal in and of themselves. If you end up using a worse weapon-skill and a worse spell to achieve a skill-chain, that's just self-defeating.
Savage Blade and Cannonball, for example, are both really horrible compared to other options available at level 99. So even though they come together to make Light, it's almost certain that just using Requicantspellit and using Chain Affinity with a spell that has a higher fTP value would have produced more damage.
There definitely are times when everything will come together, such as using Chant du Cyne with Amorphic Spikes, but it's important to remember that skill-chains are a means rather than an end.

When the timer actually lines up, definitely.
My main point is just that it's a bad idea to treat skillchains as a goal rather than a means to reach the one true goal of "killing stuff", especially if that means regressing to worse spells and weapon-skills or setting weird spells or sitting on your TP for a long time.
Seeing stuff like mention of Cannonball and spell lists "full with SC ability spells" mentioned makes me think it hasn't clicked for the bro or bro-ette who made this topic yet, even though it's probably considered common knowledge about both Blue Mage and FFXI in general these days.

Yeah I'm only level 75 on blue mage, but I was looking into what priority spells and chains to focus on for leveling. As I SCS alot with my partner when we duo stuff. So, as such I currently only have regular WS and that was the worry when looking at the list.
And besides, everyone's play style is different. I BB very differently and rarely use SCS. But the fact was I wanted to ask the community if there were more at the 75-99 range to make better use of my SCS when I am using them.

Requiescat >Chain Affinity > Quadratic Continuum will result Darkness which I usully use this one, and if you use Efflux it will even boost higher damage.
as for Level 75 i remember i use Vorpal Blade and Disseverment. It's not the best, but i find it really good.

Here you go. It's the fully updated version of the best (in my opinion) spell sheet. I updated it pretty much from 75 to 99 myself, and believe I have covered everything. ^^ Enjoy!
I don't know what is up with google docs, but you may need to download and open it in a normal Open Office or Excel program to have it fit to page properly. It should be three pages in total each on their own sheet if printed with the default settings.

http://www.ffxiah.com/forum/topic/30626/the-beast-within-a-guide-to-blue-mage/
Contains a list of every (or at least a vast majority of) useful skillchain from 40 to 99, section III under the spell data lists and spell sets

Sorry, Google Docs is new to me, but promised not to delete. It should be shared publicly now and an invite sent to you as well.
