So, I'm guessing Geomancer will go /RDM, /WHM, /SCH and things like that (all of which I have appropriately leveled already.)

But I spent most of my time in FFXI as a healer/mage (say for my time as PUP) -- I'm curious what everyone expects Rune Fencer to sub? I might have to go for the more melee-focused (I think?) class this time around.

Back from a year hiatus, trying to get my bearings back and decide what to work on, haha.

Geomancers, I see your standard mage jobs complementing it. (WHM, BLM, RDM, SCH)

As for Rune Fencer, it's too early to tell for me. I hope Run Fencer won't be stuck subbing NIN for shadows though.

Rune Fencer will definitely use /DRK!!!

No but seriously, it depends a lot on which abilities it's gonna get, /DRK, /WAR and /SAM all seem viable options considering it's gonna be a 2H job.

Another question to bring to light is whether Geomancer and Rune Fencer would make good sub jobs. We'll definitely see once we find out their job ability and trait levels and how effective they are on the field.

/WAR, everything else is for pussies.

Well /NIN is obvious for RNF, but I'm hoping for some variety for sub choices. /WAR or /SAM for a dd setup or /PLD for a more defensive set up where you can combine your Runes with basic PLD defense abilities to protect the entire party, like being able to Sentinelga the whole party.

I'm expecting we see plenty of /DNC types out there, the better to dual wield and save MP for RNF abilities and spells. /NIN will be popular as well.

My old heart wishes /RDM was best, but I doubt that. :(

Geo/nin for DW bells.

Rnf/drk

rnf doesnt need mp, and its going to be used just like a drk > resolution. nothing else it has matters.

Question is so good it makes me shiver.

I think RNF might be a good sub -- I felt like I heard them say it was going to be a 2H mage-tank. If its abilities are potent it could increase the viability of PLD tanking again. Especially if it has Provoke-esque abilities. But I feel like I heard that ages ago.

I don't think GEO is going to make a very good sub. Seems like its too unique for that -- like SCH, most of its SCH-only spells aren't even worth wasting MP on subbed.

My only problem with GEO/NIN is I doubt they'll have huge mana pools.

I'm doubting the /GEO thing too, just because it has its own magic school. Unless it works like SCH arts, where you can pump up your main job's magic skill levels to something much higher than sub level, I don't see the potency of GEO spells being valuable when stuck at sub level.

Then again I never expected how arts would work and healing with TP, so SE will do what they will.
