Okay so this event is listed on the offical website as fallows:

When
Friday, February 8, 2013, 7:00am (PST) to Monday, February 11, 2013, 6:59am (PST)

Where
All areas of Vana'diel
* Please note that Abyssea areas are not included

Details

During the above time period, the amount of experience points gained by slaying monsters will be doubled.
* The Dedication effect gained from experience bonus equipment will also be doubled.

* Experience points earned by completing certain types of content or via the use of items will not be doubled.

Now I think this is an awesome idea, several other MMOs use events kind of like this. I do have a question though;

What events does the Dev team have planned that benefit those players who have all jobs capped out at 99, and all merit points earned? As we will not really be able to participate or receive any benefit from this event (again it is a great idea) it would only seem balanced if those players who have already surpassed the limits of XP or limit points should get something too.

just a errant thought though :)
Cheers all

It's highly unlikely that no one would be able to benefit from this event, so it's very unlikely that there would be any extra content.

It's true that a good portion of people are 99x20 with full merits, however, its extremely unlikely that -anyone- has all 100 af2+2 aug'd so in theory -everyone- can benefit from exping within dynamis during this timeframe.

I suspect this event is a sign that Adoulin is almost exclusively aimed at 75+ folks, and this is a way to help as many players as possible to be prepared before launch date.

Well they could do something like make the conquest points or Imperial standing modified to gain 20% instead of 10% that would benefit players who don't need xp or limit points

That -is- what they're doing, indirectly. By gaining double the exp in the zone, you will get double the AN IS or CP

It wouldn't be Square-Enix without unnecessary restrictions.
Basically, all of the ways people EXP these days this event doesn't apply to.
Even if you were to try to take advantage of this event, you'd still gain less EXP than you would from current methods.
