The official FFIX Game Manual:

Examples of information found nowhere in the official FFXI Game Manual:

With Seekers of Adoulin just around the corner, there is the possibility of an influx of new players. Those new players shouldn't be expected to pore through a decade's worth of update notes just to figure out how to play the game.

I note that the Manual is pretty up-to-date with endgame content like Voidwatch, Legion and Meeble Burrows, but the players doing that content are also the ones least likely to be going through the Manual to begin with.

I share the same concern and sentiment. Every time a game comes out with a major block of content - such as a full expansion - there is the golden opportunity for an influx of new players. The window for this is pretty short depending on word of mouth and advertising but the real deciding factor is how friendly the game is to the new players coming in.

I think it would be really good if the manuals were updated with new players in mind before the expansion is released to make the most of the in-coming window.
