View Full Version : One more Expansion - PLEASE!

I honestly believe that one more expansion even if it is the last one could really benefit this game a lot. Final Fantasy XI needs a breath of new life in order to bring players back, and sadly the Add-On DLC packs like Abyssea just aren't cutting it.
Myself and many others do not want to see levels 91-99 get released in a simple version update. What content will there be to support it? This is the FINAL end game, there's no way to go further from here as 99 is the staple of the FF finish.
I've heard many ideas for a new expansion such as going into the future, or stay in the present and open up the islands in Vana'diel that are currently not on the map.
Please SE I BEG you. Consider this because we all definitely want to be playing FFXI for many more years to come.

11 was designed ti have a cap at 120. Also abyssea is pretty much the best thing to happen to 11 since TOAU, so saying it isnt up to snuff is wrong.

120 would be fun. Although I'd be fine with it staying at 90 to be honest.
However, SE has already said they have plans to add more content, at least more endgame.

Stupid question maybe but is it even possible to make PS2 releases anymore? Would be hard to sell them too, no stores would stock them I would think. They would have to have some deal to send them out via playonline sales or something.
Given the fact they made the same profits on the 3 aby mini expansions with a lot less dev work and no production costs of the actual disks etc I can't see it happening now :/ Ultimately when they see how low they can go and we accept it thats the new benchmark.

Manufacturing larger HDDs shouldn't be out of the question. Anyone can get a larger HDD now, but it's only the "official" HDD that's causing limitations.
So what do you do when you find your PC is running out of storage space? Either delete useless crap or upgrade. Doing this for the PS2 shouldn't be hard. Make a bundle pack or something. New expansion comes bundled with a larger HDD for $70 or something.
Time for an upgrade.

or drop the ps2 and move ps2 people on ps3?
seems like the add HDD to PS2 not worth it

I'd be happy with another expansion, but it doesn't have to be a boxed one. I have been rather enjoying the $10 download-able add-ons. I think SE should continue with this style of expansion, even going to the far east, the Mithran homelands, and the north with this style if they must.
I don't think boxed games have much of a life left, regardless of the game. It's all going to be downloaded content in a few years.

Omigod... the game uses 1/4th the HDD space on the PS2... The PS2 HDD is NOT OUT OF SPACE!
And if the past three "abyssea" expansions we're good enough... then why are you asking for another?

Well Square-Enix is referencing PS2 limitations in nearly everything they can't do. Care to explain what "limitations" they are referring to?

Only way people be satified with this is Square Enix coming out with an offical statement on the specific's of the ps2 limitations bs. Other then the aways someone has to point out the ps2 limiation crap yes i would love to see an expansion again.

maybe make 3 addons but instead of dishing them out 1 by 1, make them all and release them all at same time for 1 price, like $15. It'd not be as big as an expansion but it'd be all connected and things. and be a bit bigger in size.

They said they cant add new translator words because of ps2 limtations =/.
There was a time here you can to uninstall the game and reinstall it because FFXI would fill up the HDD so bad.

There is zero chance of an expansion disc. There may be new DLC add-ons, but that's unlikely because of disk space issues.

Trust me people are well aware of the ps2 limitation's but alway's pointing out that fact is getting pretty redundant to say the least. So yes I think they should address it and still have an expansion.
