View Full Version : Eldieme Necropolis, convenience still an issue?

FFXIV is on hiatus and I noticed a recent patch nerfed the final Limit Break quest, so I'm back again. My only remaining pet peeve in this game (besides crafting) is the doors in the Eldieme Necropolis. Do they still require two people to work the switches?

Well there's weighted stones for the Banishing Gates now if that's what you mean ? http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Pouch_of_weighted_stones If you mean the levers later in, they still require people.

That's Garlaige Citadel. Completely different zone.

Yeah for some reason I read it as Garlaige Citadel. XD But, yeah, they require it still. :(

Time? You literally cannot access certain parts of the Necropolis without someone to work a switch for you.
Which honestly bugs me to no end. We demand the Necropolis be open to be explored (as terrible a place as it is)!

What if trading an Eldieme Chest Key to one of the doors forced it open for a few seconds? Even if the key was then eaten by the Inconvenience Fairy, it's better than having to flag down a disinterested person to flip a switch for you.

Better idea: A key item that's an oversized hammer. Once you have it, if you click on a door it does the pickaxe animation except with you holding a giant spiked steel maul, and you shatter the door. It'll stay that way for like 30 seconds or whatever, then respawn. Then when it does, instead of it fading back in like normal, a bunch of little miniature skeletons will show up and start shaking their fists and squeaking angrily at you, then hop all about to replace the door one brick at a time really fast.

I'd actually be amused if we could just trade the door a grenade and blow the little buggers open briefly. The gobbie shop in Lower Jeuno would be delighted. Be better than seeing all the really derp types who hax their way through the doors instead. :(

You must have been in the [S] version. The only way you made it through the present zone "alone" is if you leeched off of some group opening doors for their own purposes. If you have figured out a way through without having another player opening doors then please post a guide on one of the wikis and link to it ASAP. I'll wait.

Two ideas to fix this,
1. A Magic Symbol Key item when placed on the door, briefly opens that door.
2. All the doors occasionally rotate, Like once a Vana'Diel day. Sorta like the Maze in the Sacrarium. I've already thought ahead for the Dev team on this one. Because of the Alternating Patterns(A{North/South Doors} and B{East/West}), this wouldn't break the game or get anyone stuck. Switches would still operate and manually change them. Basically, for faster travel, bring a friend.

I interpreted his statement as being that exactly, a sarcastic quip about waiting for hours for someone else looking for Borghertz's Six-Fingered Hands to happen to open the door you're staring at.

I'd be happy if they just put a lycoportal down by Hume Bones. I guess they thought that was too much of a "cakewalk". Considering that the [S] version has about a dozen lvl 60 tigers down there, I wonder what their idea of (Decent challenge) is.
