Please help!

Alright so I will try to make a long story as short as I can. I had the 14 day trial, then decided to download this Abyssea Edition off Steam. Now that I installed everything, the PoL viewer will open and let me log in and stuff but as soon as I try to launch the game, it goes to a black screen and crashes. It was working fine until I downloaded Abyssea so. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Alright well I got it back working again by completely deleting everything a couple of times and re-installing, it finally worked, but it is still the trial version. Even launching it from Steam with my full Abyssea version it is still in the trial version. Any ideas on how to upgrade it properly to the Abyssea edition?

I am fairly sure by default you get the trial anyway.. after which you credit card gets charged (or crystal deducted depending what payment option you chose)

You have to register some codes, and then make sure to launch from the Steam version, since Steam obnoxiously does a separate (and sometimes troublesome) install.

I think I answered this somewhat earlier this month, although reading the thread this quote is from might also help:


To check which codes are associate with your account, go to the SE account management page, hit select service, FFXI, then hit "Options List" and scroll down. It should give you the options you have and their registration dates.

If you got a trial account, then got the game installed through Steam, Steam may have installed in a different location, meaning that you will have to launch from the Steam copy to access your installed copy that has the expansions if this is the case.

Well now I have it so that it works, but it only lets me play for like 2 minutes and then just freezes and kicks me off... In the time wasted getting this to work I could have been like level 30 by now hahahahaha. Damn it I just want to play. I honestly don't know what else to do so I just deleted the entire thing off Steam again and I am going to try downloading the PoL viewer straight from the FF11 page and then just trying it from there and hoping if that works.

the only problem with that is you would still need the base files for each of the expansions to be able to download all the files

Yeah I just deleted EVERYTHING all over again hahahahha and downloaded it ONCE AGAIN from Steam so hopefully this works once and for all. I made sure to go through and delete anything relating to PoL, FF or Tetra Master on my computer, so I just hope and pray that it works this time. Why is it so damn complicated to play a game hahahahah I just want to play some Final Fantasy!

Well after deleting and reinstalling it AGAIN it seems to be working for now, had a good night playing, got up to level 10 so here is hoping it keeps on working. Thanks for the assistance guys.
