View Full Version : Ballista Upgrade?

I know that most people hate the PVP system of this game and therefore don't even bother with it, but those players who really enjoy it and think it's fun seem to be having a hard time to get into large matches due to the fact of the lack of players, unless on the right server where there is more people playing, which still isn't many.

I feel that if the developers would consider upgrading it, or expanding it; maybe not a complete overhaul or anything, but definitely some kind of upgrade, that people would consider playing it again.

Maybe like an expansion of rewards you win. As it is now, anything anyone gets is like 5k gil, 500 xp, and some titles.. If the developers were to add some gear or items that are more rare to be able to buy with ballista points and maybe an increase in xp based on the players you defeat or how much you score for when your team is victorious, and if your team is defeated, you can can still get xp based on the players you defeat or how much you score but it would be halved due to the loss of your team. Maybe give certain bonuses to the top ranking people in the matches, the high scorer, etc with extra ballista points or extra xp.

As for the 'expansion' idea: maybe branch out to different areas. (Now I do understand that the areas currently used are on a unique schedule for matches, but I'm sure it wouldn't take much to rework that to accommodate new areas..)

I am positive that if the rewards from Ballista were in fact rewarding that players would be more thrilled to actually play.

I am currently on a break from the game due to some personal problems but when I do come back within the next couple of months I would be ecstatic to see an upgrade in Ballista coming. Just something to think about.

yes! please check this SE. dont have to do a complete overhaul, all we asking for is a reward/exp boost, the same way you did to Campaign & Besieged. if the rewards was like that this will bring more people into trying it.

I support this, and would also like to add a request. More accessibility for Ballista and related PvP games. Currently, our choices for engaging in these activities are to either wait for a Ballista match, or go through the nightmare of reserving a Brenner field. If it were less of a pain to actually join in these activities players would try it out more often, instead of seeing a 45 minute timer and then deciding to take out frustrations on Call of Duty instead.

There's also no incentives for players to even try out the current PvP for any reason, the lack of tangible rewards is a turn off for a lot of people who feel they should be working toward some kind of gear reward when playing any of the events in the game. If the offered rewards for regular PvP were decent enough, I think people would be more willing to try it out, if they're willing to WoE for logs and a chance to win the lottery despite the event being terrible I can see PvP being a success. Ideally it would have more fun and less terrible elements, but SE doesn't want us to have too much fun.

Hello,

Amidst all the current plans, we do not have any specific Ballista revamps in mind at this time. However, this is only due to the fact that there is a lot to be done right now (expansion coming!), and the development of these things are higher in priority, so it's not that we are ruling out the possibility to adjust Ballista in the future. Also, depending on what the revamps entail, the easier edits could possibly be done quicker, but the more large-scale revamps would take a bit more time, and we would need to consider the Seeker of Adoulin schedule.

I would like to this become a part of the SoA schedule. Making some genuine improvements to the system would be worthwhile. Anything that improves accessibility is direly needed. You guys can't even begin to imagine how much revisiting ballista would mean to some of us.

If ever a Ballista revamp is to be planned, I would like to see more matches, more often, in more areas. I should be able to play Ballista at my preferred cap without having to wait more than 15 minutes for a match to begin.

I would also like to see greater rewards for playing Ballista. There needs to be an incentive to participate in Ballista so that it does not continue to go overlooked.

Balance adjustments specific to PvP would also be welcome, but please do NOT change the core experience of the game. As it stands, Ballista is one of the most exciting, dynamic and fun events in the game. The only problem is that no one plays!

One very simple thing that could be done to improve accessibility is get rid of the ballista license / have pursuviants/heralds issue them, and just have the license quest be a lore/flavor quest.

This wouldn't result in any kind of dramatic change, but it would make it so anyone could sign up for outdoor matches or reserve the diorama, so it removes one barrier to entry. A lot of people are discouraged from participating by that quest, which takes a pretty significant amount of walking around.
