Hello, fellow Vana'dielians!
See my progress at http://brandtome.livejournal.com/
I am looking for some help in formulating a legacy challenge, similar to those you can find for Sims 2 and 3. My wife is starting a legacy challenge where she has to do quite a large amount of things, and many people write about it as a smaller form of fan fiction, or like a diary. The basic description is an endurance challenge.
I figured up something similar for FFXI, mostly as a means of support for her and as a personal challenge for me. She'll be playing Sims 3, and I'll be playing FFXI.
What my challenge entails, as of right now:
1. Create a new character, Brandtome Paradox. I'm going to make my wife set up the character and all that. I'm probably going to just use the first name in the character naming area, since Paradox is way more likely to have already been chosen. I'm going to let her decide what server, and what starting job.
2. Job levels: All jobs must be at their highest level. I'm debating on whether or not to do each job's Maat or equivalent fight for G5 breaks.
3. Meriting: One specific job will be determined to be my final main. My original thought was to focus solely on that specific job, but as the goal is to have as much at my fingertips as possible, any thoughts on how I might be able to accomplish this?
3a. Meriting, Part II: For an added bonus, I can cap out ALL of my meriting for each job specific set. That would take quite some time, but imagine how awesome it would be.
4. Missions: I must complete each expansion in the order it was offered. I will choose to start out in a nation that matches the race I am, so that I at least get that silly nation ring. I will have to complete San d'Orian, Bastok, and Windurst missions before moving to Zilart, then to Promathia, etc. I may look at changing this so I am allowed to work on two different expansions at once (so, I can be doing starter city and Zilart, but can't jump to Promathia until I finish one of the first two).
5. Spells: Must collect all of them. Yes, this does include all Blue Magic.
6. Statistics: All Combat and Magic skills must be maxed out to their extreme limits. Extreme limits are what I'm calling the highest they can get across all jobs.
7. Progression of Jobs: I will play the base 6 up to 30, rotating them out as I complete each area. So, I'll probably play Ronfaure/Gustaberg/Sarty-Barty up to 10 on the first one, then switch over to the next one and do the same, until all are at 10. Then I'll move on, working my way through each area.
Once I get to 30, I will unlock only the jobs that were available for each expansion. So, until I start playing ToAU, I won't go unlock Blue Mage. However, I will still be leveling everything evenly, based on area and leveling pattern.
The "order" in which I unlock them is random, but once I get to a new expansion, when I go to unlock each new available job, I must not do any more leveling until I unlock them all. Then I must get all the new ones up to the same levels. So, if all my characters were at 45 and I unlocked Samurai, Ninja, and Dragoon, I would have to go level all three of those jobs up to 45 before I could continue and move on.
9. Quests: I am going to attempt to do ALL quests. God help me.
For the moment, I am not including crafting, as I am considering adding that as an additional "side-quest" requirement for only after I unlock all of the jobs and have evenly leveled them out.
Are there any other things that might be included? Remember, this is meant to be an endurance challenge and go an extreme distance.
I am planning on writing down everything that happens as a form of a journal. Any good ideas where to post that? I don't know if that would be completely allowable here.
EDIT: I'm still needing ideas and any suggestions about what else could be considered a part of the endurance challenge.
