I stopped playing FFXI in Jan 2012, and decided to come back yesterday, and reinstalled the game on a new PC, I tryed to log in but I got Error Code:POL-5311. I then logged into my SE account, and changed passwords and tried again, same error. So I thought maybe it was something I was typeing wrong, and tried to log into FFXIV, no issues. Then I logged onto Friendlist plus. No issues, then tried to log into forums, no issues. I then checked the forums to see if anyone else was having this issue, and found a post, followed instructions on there, and still same error. I uninstalled, and reinstalled the game 4 times, and same error. Anything to help would be nice.

That POL-5311 error typically means that something is not being entered correctly in the Login Settings area of the PlayOnline viewer. You may need to check to see if you are able to log into the Account Management site here (https://secure.square-enix.com)with your Square Enix ID and password. If you are able to log in double check to see that the login information used on the website matches with what you are entering on the PlayOnline Viewer. You may want to check out our transfer guide here (http://www.playonline.com/homeus/polshift/)if it's been a while since you've played to make sure that you've got everything linked and transferred properly before logging in.
