Save the same, tired talking points. What I'd like to see are elemental Magian shields that can serve varying purposes and encourage flexibility.
Examples:
Earth 99 Shield--VIT +11, Physical Damage Taken -11% (basically the same stats as the Earth Shikargar), "Shield Bash": Adds "Slow" effect
Water 99 Shield--MND +11, Magic Defense Bonus +11, "Shield Bash": Adds "Magic Defense Down" effect (Poison and Drown don't seem appropriate)
You get the idea. Some quality shields that still take some work to build but not requiring the connections.

Interesting idea although not sure about the PDT on shield being that high.
Further expanding on the idea, how about giving them damage taken effects like: Physical damage: "Curse" effect for dark.
This could be argued that it would be too powerful but until there is an actual need for a dedicated tank that's a flawed argument.
requiring the connections.
Connections? Both Relic and Emp can be soloed, not the fastest way to get them done but there are no "required connections".

I think by connections he means other people willing to set aside time to assist with certain stages. Plates for example require at least one other person unless you dual box or bore the NM to death on BST. I don't think the -DT on the earth shield is overpowered, it's the same as any other Earth trial -DT bonus. I like the idea of building multiple shields for some variety, augmenting Bash depending on your shield's element sounds interesting too.

BLM or BLU can solo plates in Grauberg. Pet jobs can take down T3 avatars, even seen a NIN solo the Leviathan one before. Adzja is the only part that can't be soloed without brew but then there's brews. So like I said it can be soloed though not the fastest Emp to solo.

I wasn't trying to doubt you, just speculating on what "connections" are.

Heh sorry if I came off as harsh, wasn't my intent. I just don't like when misinformation gets passed out around.
Though I'd more so question what's the point of being a PLD if you don't have friends to protect, thus friends you can count on to help :)
Anyway back on topic I don't see us being able to have the current stun and the extra effect as it sounds "overpowered" at least by SE's lol logic.

I am an ochain PLD and this sounds like 2 reasonable shield trials. Should probably keep limited to Rdm,PLd, and Blu the same as the swords.

You left out some pretty important stats about these hypothetical shields.
What size are they? What's the defense on it? Block rate?
the stats you've listed are pretty insignificant compared to what you've left out. Cause if we're looking at Genbu Shield 2.0... I'd take an AH shield over that.

I'd say the most important part of your question is the type/size - i'd except this to be type 3:kite (with avg block and dmg mitigation). No way should a standard magian trial reward blockrates of anything close to aegis' rates. Defense would be scaled to lvl 99 kite shield inherently.

I'd like to see these shields as Kite shields with the same block rate, though RDMs don't generally have access to that size. I'd also like to see the DEF at the same level as regular level 90+ shields, if only slightly lower than Ochain (90).
Consider, though, that I'm lifting stats from Shikargar and adding in Shield Bash specials. In other words, there's a possibility of doubling each stat through equipping the same element weapon and shield. I'd be open to different ideas, though, for the sake of originality.

I figured those would be desired stats, but it's always good to get it in writing just for the sake of formality. It's really not a bad idea, but best to make sure it's fleshed out with less room for someone to just "fill in the gaps" if you know what I mean.

You're talking like he's actually putting these onto the test server....
