Sometimes when trying to attack a monster that's in melee range, but hasn't aggrod yet (IE walking with it's back turned to me, and I'm a ninja so I have sneak on, and it won't aggro) I will get the message saying not in melee range, yet I'm walking into the thing, strafing along beside it.

Found a way around it, just unlock from the mob and run ahead of where it's appearing on my screen, maybe I have bad connection. Anyone know where the world Asura's server is based out of?

It's just lag. All servers are in japan, so everyone's got a bit of it. You either have to just run ahead of it, or use a ranged attack/ability.

lol... another one of my favorites.... unable to see the target, because there's a small rock between you. Nevermind you are actually in that gob's face and can virtually taste that stank-breath of his......

Mobs will have moved on the server before the client is updated, hence the difficulty at times to melee a walking target.
The reverse is also true. Mobs will hit you well out of range when running away, because on the server you are still in range.
Automatons also suffer this problem, btw. They will cast on targets out of range, take a few steps, cast again, take a few steps, cast again, all while the mob is moving around (and away) on a casual stroll.
