Another Chance to Obtain Ark Weapons?

I was actually rather disheartened when I was not chosen to even receive the smallest of items (Ark Scythe). And was wondering if there would be another opportunity to obtain it and/or the Ark Saber.

I'd be more interested in a full line of low-lvl, low-dmg weapons that were all jobs, that aren't tied to a particular event.

Either way would be nice. I myself am in the same boat as you Etrigan, I wanted a Scythe, however instead my GF who doesn't have NIN leveled, and doesn't end up ever using it except for floating around, got the Scythe & a Heka's.

Great idea though it should be FFXI versions of games like Battleship, Clue, or Twister.

I feel fairly confident in saying that the contest will be held yearly if not bi yearly, for anni and new years. It's the one thing out of the year where for a few weeks time we're allowed a chance to have nice things. If it's ever cut from the game for good said person who made that decision will forever be the Ebenezer Scrooge of FFXI. I'm sure most of the dev team gets a kick out of awarding winners such prized possessions or we wouldn't have had MB for as long as we did. It'll take a real Scrooger and a half to do away with the rep, so I can't believe it'll happen for the time being. Even Tanaka enjoyed giving away nice things.

Wasn't there like 5 ark weapons? I thought there was even screenshots of all of them being held by a scholar at one time. I was kind of disappointed when only the two were offered. But at least the one i wanted the most was one.

Agreed, but obviously FFXI isn't that sort of game. If there were any more luck involved you'd have to go to one of those shady "internet sweepstakes" joints to play.

In addition to making them prizes, once all 5 have been made obtainable, make a higher difficulty version of Divine Might to win them? Could even have it where if you participated in the event you recieve an orb to enter then choose your weapon upon victory? Everyone needing the orb to enter, then choosing their prize at the end. That way in addition to being randomly selected and receiving it, you automatically have a chance to fight for it if nothing else.

Not many people would care either way, but Ark Scythe is the only weapon in the game allowing anyone /war to proc red !! in Abyssea (I hope you are aware of that) and whoever was not blessed by the Mog Bonanza random number generator is at disadvantage when making empyrean weapon. Helping recently a friend with Almace90, we've found ourselves few times short of Shadow of Death, and since Apademak pop items aren't of the cheap sort or the readily reobtainable one, we were left with the choice of gambling for getting key item without red !!, or hassle of one warping out, changing job and coming back whilst other one stands around with Dhorne Khimaira up. Yes, you can ask people around to help you, but sometimes there isn't anyone available even, or they might be unwilling to help etc.
Whoever from event/development team decided to create this situation, I don't know what was their reasoning to make unlucky Bonanza rejects be aggravated like that for months (or even years to come?) ?

With Pitchfork at least if you miss getting it during Halloween event, you always have an option of picking it up from Adventurer's Appreciation Campaign after 40 days. And I've actually heard of few people who went for that. I've had few friends who couldn't afford making another account just for an ingame item, but they will all be able to get event polearm for sure this Halloween. With Ark Scythe we might be on developers' RNG whim mercy for a long time.

So, again, what was your reasoning and goal in creating this situation?

Or maybe have it buyable. Like they did with the Clamming gear, Dinner Outfit ect. With my luck, I will NEVER have any type of Ark weapon. XD
SE loves to screw over people that actually works their asses off for a type of gear...only to fail miserably. :D

A Melee getting Heka's.....and a Mage doesn't....that's some sad LUCK right there. :) Good job SE!
But yeah, I am impressed that SE actually allowed Pulse Cells to get the VW gear. However, that is sitll a fucked up sad thing to do.
A Mage is supposed to get Mage gear. A NIN is not supposed to get Mage gear unless teh player is Mage-oriented.

I think this should be fixed is:
Allow a program to 'know' that the player is Mage-based or not and have the probability increased more and more for the certain type of job that the player usually plays on. Or what jobs the player plays most of.

Me? I only play Mage jobs. SE, please figure out a way to not base things on Luck....some people actually can't get their personal 'luck' to actually 'work.' :)

Sorry for the derail. But this is such crap of the 'luck' and 'probability.'
I'd rather buy these Ark weapons for 500k a peice than to do a Luck-based Event.

I'll be honest When I first heard about it my mind did jump to abyssea proc weapon as nin/war (or hell even mnk/war) but Ark Angel TaruTaru looks pretty damn cool :P

There are a fair number of things I wish I could still get that I couldn't afford when they came out, The Tidal Talisman for example was a nice piece and I'm still jealous of one of my friends that got one :P (Granted that's referring to the physical item not the in game one, but both would be nice to have)

Actually the Heka's went to the right person, she plays WHM & RDM, mains BLM, but either way the Scythe is basically going to waste, shes actually leveling up NIN for red procs because she has that now.

How would the game know if a player is mage or melee based? Most everyone has most if not all jobs levelled, I myself use SCH on a regular basis, I also have WHM, SMN, RDM and BLM. On the melee side I have NIN, THF and DRK that I actually use most of the time. How is the game going to know what job class I am most of the time?

Unless you're referring to the game deciding whether you should get a Heka`s based on what job you are on currently during that run. In which case all the DD`s would be screwed before they even started and you`d end up with SMN burns for Akvan and Celaeno.

Idk, I don't have a main job per-say, I use a job based on the situation or needs so I wouldn't say I'm either melee or mage based. But in the interest of answering your question I`d say it would at least be a start, I`d tell Akvan I fulltime my SCH while swinging my GS at him just so he hands me a Heka`s before I turn 80 (years that is, not job lvl :p)
