View Full Version : "Heady Artifice" (new 2hr) change suggestion

The current plan suggest that Heady Artifice will make the automaton use a different 2hr depending on the head used. Given the less then enthousiastic responses to that idea, I would suggest the following:

The automaton equipment window gets a new slot, reserved exclusively for 2hr abilities.
Selecting this slot will show a number of possible abilities for the automaton to use.
Some are available to all frames, others only to some frames.

Two-hour abilities:
Mighty Strikes (Harlequin, Sharpshot, Valoredge)
Invincible
Eagle Eye Shot (Sharpshot)
Manafont (Harlequin, Stormwaker)
Chainspell (Harlequin, Stormwaker)
Benediction (Harlequin, Stormwaker)

Additional 2hr abilities:
Blood Weapon (Valoredge)
Meikyo Shisui (Harlequin, Sharpshot, Valoredge)
Hundred Fists (Harlequin)
Perfect Dodge

So Just to clarify: You would equip the 2hr? would it not be better to make it a sub menu like the Steps, Quickdraw, Or Stratagems? just a thought

The idea would be that you'd have to select the twohour when customising your automaton, not be able to select any of them when you were out in the field. Sort of like how you can't change your job at will when you're out fighting either.

Being able to select them freely in battle could let you use both mighty strikes and hundred fists at the same time, perhaps, if you had a revitalizer.

not going to point anything out but using a rev in battle would let you do overdrive and heady at the same time. sounds a little broken already :P if you want to walk that way

Correct. By equiping them in the automaton menu, you cannot change it without deactivate. So no Manafont+Chainspell either.
Details about restrictions aside, I think this idea matches the dev's one pretty close, but removes the player opposition to it. We can customize the 2hr like all other aspects of the automaton, but none of the customizing can be done while activated.

It's not written in stone yet, but the latest I read was that the 2 abilities now get their own timer. And that both of them will be 30 minutes, rather then 2 hours. (The new abilities are being weakened for balance reasons, obviously. Some probably need redesign.)

One question though, if you have the option to use Invincible, why would you also want the option to use Perfect Dodge?

Invincible doesn't block non-physical melee damage or additional effects, and it carries a considerable enmity boost. That could be important on some NMs.
