Breath spells: are there any good reasons to use them?

Poison breath used to be good for tanking, Wind Breath would be too if tanking mattered. Otherwise? No.

Perhaps, SE should take a second look at these spells? Maybe, they should be fast cast/low MP cost spells....or just deal a loooot more damage.

They'd be a bit more useful if they just removed the massive natural resistance that every NM gets

As far as I'm aware the major selling point for breath spells is that they ignore magic defence and the damage dealt is mainly related to your hp. So they were good spells to use against mobs with high magic defence that other spells wouldn't do much against.
Unfortunately on pretty much any relevant content now the mobs have resistance to breath spells which really defeats the point seeing as they are meant for times when you want to bypass magic defenses... +you need pretty high hp for them to even be worth casting, Considering we are at the point where we are doing more damage to defensive mobs with our physical spells than we would be with breath spells.

Maybe SE should look at this post. Does anyone ever set breath spells other than proc'ing? Hopefully, not...Blu has way too many inefficient spells.

There is gear that helps augment the dmg these spells do. Some are worth situationally.

Not even. With maximum gear on, say, a Hume, you're looking at a horribly MP-and-time-inefficient spell even for the best one (Thunder Breath). Wind Breath comes close, but the damage is far too pitiful to waste set points and inventory space on.

well the issue is wants to set them like there an aga spell(mana cost), but cones are horrible for that seance mobs like to circle you, and not ride your feet like your a 2004 jormy ^^/
considering the dependency on your hp se should greatly drop the mana and casting speed, maby make the trade off a slight increase to recast or a decrees in the cones arch.

I agree. All breaths should be 2x more potent in dmg, 1/2 to 1/4 the total mp cost, 1/4 of the casting speed, but with a trade off to the recast being 2x longer. I'm not sure if decreasing the cone's arch would do much though.
I would also think that decreasing innate breath resistances NMs have on breath spells and abilities would be another good step onto fixing these useless spells. DRG would be happy with that as well.

Breath spells need to have drastically lowered costs and have the same casting time as regular physical spells. Honestly I'd prefer if ALL Magic type Blue Magic had those super fast cast times. Goes more with BLU's motif.

yea but fast casting wouldn't seem right for some of are nukes i mean look at dark orb, were summoning the unholy version of the spirit bomb that's defiantly going to take some time, hopefully not 4 x30mins long(while a vegi is talking to an appliance that helps food stay good longer), but yea.... all are buff spells need it tho, and yea seems odd that breathing takes like 13 seconds i mean im pretty sure we could die from asphyxiation quicker than we could use a breath spell >.>

They should also fix our fast cast trait. It's dumb! lol
