Didn't check to see if there was a similar post about this, but since I started skilling up again and using Elshena (+ combat skill gain food), I find myself having enough play time to maybe pop 2-3 of these per skill up session before having to log off. The last serving being used not too far from me logging off.

I never noticed it before, but once I log back in, the food that I assumed would be ready to last the rest of it's 30 minute (or at least 25 mins) duration wears off within the 1st 5 minutes. :( This leads me to assume the food timer is still counting down while logged off, like Abyssea time does. After the 4th time of this happening to me, I was none to happy to lose my expensive delicacies.

It's been too long for me to recall if this has always been the case, but would it break the game if we could retain the food timer while logged off? Just a simple "Pause line of Code" on the countdown timer. While this is not a super high priority compared to some of the other game altering issues on the Devs table, it's rather annoying when a stack of food that cost 100K+ wears off after logging out and returning a few hours later. It's a bit unfair when you don't always have the play time to fully use each serving of the food.

Hope it's not a programming impossibility :)

I don't ever recall this happening to me. But it is 2:30 in the morning for me.

Uhm... tbh I never noticed this and always assumed food timers do not elapse while logged out.
You sure that wasn't just a bug or something Kingfury?
Or maybe things have always been this way and I never noticed, uhm... tbh I'm not sure myself but I'm really surprised.

Yeah, I had never really noticed this before either, but sure enough this happened 3-4 times within a week where I would use a serving of food just as I was about to log off only to log back in the next day and have the food wear off in a few short minutes. I was yelling at my screen so I was awake and alert when it happened lol.
If it was a bug, then I'm not sure what conditions brought this on, but I'm definitely interested in maintaining my expensive food's time duration to it's fullest potential. Actually, I was under the Ground Tome beneficial effects if that's any clue. Is there a stipulation that cuts food duration in half while under those effects or while logged out?

You're either remembering your food's remaining duration wrong or you're experiencing an unintended glitch, and if you're certain that it's the latter you probably will need to provide more exact information on the circumstances involved.

I've used skillup food recently in the exact same way and haven't experienced any food lasting shorter than it should.

Food duration, much like the duration for almost every other status effect (positive or negative), is frozen when logged out (or interacting with a NPC or anything that gives you a scrolling chatlog / dialogue box / cutscene). I have preserved many foods in these ways many times.
