I know that some may not agree that "story" should get in the way of gameplay, but even if the vast distances can somehow be ignored, I am not sure I could wrap my brain around {/yell}ing through time or buying things on the AH years before they were put up for sale.

I totally get how convenient this idea would be; but at least for the zones pulled from the quote above, I don't see it happening - and I think that I am personally okay with that...

[Edit: If you mean that you want each city to have its own /yell channel, that I think would be great - it just looked like you wanted /yell to appear across all those zones collectively.]

I would, like it to go to each city zone if possible.... The action is in jeuno, but if yells went all cities wide.... Maybe it could be everywhere.

I can agree with this - it would be very nice, from a gameplay perspective, to get a /yell in any city; and despite how it pushes the limit of the fiction that I enjoy in the game, it could be explained away as a public-address level linkshell magic/technology (not that it needs to be explained, I would just like it to make some kind of sense, immersion-wise).

As I described in my initial response, though, I do think there should be a communication/business barrier between the present and the [S] zones, at least as far as /yell and the AH are concerned (/linkshell and /party working across time is a necessary evil of keeping the game playable, admittedly).

You're now automatically given a special Linkshell next time you chat to your Moogle that opens up full nation-wide chat via /yell.

If my Moogle can transcend time and space and serve me in the past, they can pass my messages along there also.

yeah, it's a technicality, I'm not too concerned with it, I'd rather see the shout I need to progress while doing the random other things in cities that I should be doing instead of waiting around in jeuno for the progression shout I need, at least until a time I'm sick of waiting and i'll be the shouter but .. that never needs to happen >:D

In anycase, being able to turn it on and off in all cities ... when your there is always an option. this is brilliant and should spread us out a lil around the world, add us to the mix of the rare new person, make random names like asdfjpol , quicker identifed (more people in the starting zones to see em and ... then!! i won't get the spam :D) .. ok i went nuttz on direction there , but this is a good thing. make it happen s.e.

The larger concern (for SE at least) is server strain. We had to beg them to simply allow the filter to not default to on. I think they should break it up into channels, like how the search comments are split up. You can "yell" (or whatever the new term would be) into these different channels for different things, such as crafting, partying, endgame, etc. And this would be viewable from any zone when you open up the menu.

And the strain would be greatly lowered since the "yell" wouldn't have to load on everyone's screen, but only those looking for those groups.

At the very least, they could work out a deal for an external application for PC clients (and possibly an xbox app as well) that just allows you to see the chat log in different cities, similar to the guildwork shout channel, but available through official channels. Hell, even an Ios / android / metro app would be great. It would be nice if I could see what's going on in all the towns in a separate chat window on my PC or phone / tablet instead of spamming up my chat log with random chatter. They could subsidize the whole thing with ads and / or charge a fee for it.

Or just not broadcast the packets to players that entered 'no collision' mode from afking (which should be in this upcoming update), which'll remove a good 50% of potential folks that'd see the yell.

Wouldn't that also block everyone watching shouts with nothing to do though?

Can already do this and more, if only it were more popular, just sayin'. ;)

'That' way also voids your ToS, and is limited to PC users only.

FFXIAH.com breeches FFXI's terms, but in no way are you impacting your game to get in trouble.

Adding yell to the past areas just doesn't make since with the story. While this would be nice, no mmo has a channel that you can get to talk to everyone no matter what zone you are in so I doubt they will change this.

He was referring to something not FFXIAH. It's the same thing FFXIAH pulls its shout data from.

Meh... Allakazahm is owned by the same company that runs all those RMT accounts everyone complains about and they have a link on the play online website lol. There's a lot of grey area when it comes to that sort of thing. I don't think SE minds that thing he's talking about (though they will probably never admit it).

Hello, everyone!

I just wanted to give you all a heads up on a nice quality of life change that will be taking place in the upcoming version update!

No longer will you need to be out of the /yell loop while in Mhaura, as we will be expanding the areas in which the /yell feature can be used to the three starting nations and other outlying cities.

Thank You!
