I have been playing this game primarily solo since I bought this game. I have tried a few linkshells and even doing my own for a little bit here and there and well simply put, whether leading or following they can be such a hassle. One thing in particular that concerns me is Assault missions in Aht Urghan. I would love to raise my ranking but it can be a pain trying to get enough people to do them or online at the same time to do them.
Might I suggest a sort of Player Que for content that has a minimum party requirement like Assault. While pick up groups have their own set of headaches I admit, at the very least people who have a shared interest in doing them can join up regardless of shell without multiple series of annoying shouts, yells, etc as long as they meet the level requirements of the content for which they are signing up. This queue could be applied to ther content as well if desired but my only personal concern is Assault. I really would like to raise my mercenary rank so that I can extend the duration of my sanction and not have to run/warp back every so often because it has worn off, it is beyond annoying at this point and I've had enough of it.
This queue could also be used to introduce Player versus player content with level based matchmaking if so desire. Lord knows I would love a way to beat the holy crap out of most the people on this game and this forum that annoy me. XD You could even break it down into 1 on 1, party versus party(6vs6) linkshell vs linkshell(18vs18)

There already is level based/LS based PvP, its called Brenner. There are open scheduled battles and the ability to reserve the area for a block of time for LS vs LS battles. But it doesn't really matter, PvP has never been highly desired by most people in FFXI. Ballista was popular for maybe 3 months before no one played it anymore because there is no real reward for doing so.

to me those dont count as pvp by my standards since they are seem to be only held in conquest areas from what i seen. To me true PvP is impromptu not scheduled which is one of the problem with those game modes. Secondly being able to pick where the battle transpires instead of having it dictated to you is another feature of true PvP which from what I read and seen is another issue. thrid, reserving an area now does that mean other people cant frequent the area during the time the battle ensues because it does that sucks bc what if want to spectate the battle or farm? Fourth, they could use these to introduce Party/Alliance Sphere effects that can use outside of pvp for rewards that can be bought using some sort of points.
If those issues with Brenner was resolved maybe it could revitalize it, then again maybe not so much. With as much crap as people talk on here I would love watch alot of people get their behinds handed too myself, if not deliver it to them personally. Realistically though those who yap on here probably wouldn't even have the guts to show up online for one of these events anyway.

People don't PVP because there's nothing to be gained from it.
Want to make PVP desirable for the masses? Give players the ability to use an emote that shows rank pips hovering over the shoulders. Let them purchase desirable evoliths (post-evolith update) with pvp points. Allow purchase of alternate versions of weapons and armor you own for PVP points.

I like the idea of evoliths for PvP but my idea for Player Queues isnt just about PvP, it about not waiting hours on end for people to pick you up in a party, or finding people who want to participate in content that may not be as popular. In general its about finding more people who are interested in doing the content you like and are confident in their ability to get the job done regardless of what jobs are in the party, or even making it easier to find that party replacment for those leaving an alliance without sending mulitple annoying shouts/yells or using comments.

Events often require specific jobs, and not everyone wants to join whatever event people are looking for at the time.
Also, Player Queue is already in the game in the form of Search Comments. If people aren't using it, it's because they are lazy and it's easier to /yell in Jeuno then to browse the /seacoms. PQ won't change that.

Well this is kind of my point about the queue trying to find those that do at that time, sometimes the person that does might be in or on a different time zone than you. This would help to better zoom in on those who are interested in the same EXACT content, at the EXACT moment, you are with out reading through the somewhat ill formed comments. I guess this could be more of a revamp of the search feature when I think about it. Maybe introduce some subcategories to say Battlefields, instead of trying to use the lame auto-translate feature that usually winds up in ill-formed broken sentences that make little sense at times. For instance, the Missions button would break out to say >>Nations, WoG, CoP, ToAU, etc >> expansion addon specific mission names as next sub menu. In fact the expansions should say be the top menu of search feature and then have all the types of content it introduced as submenu of those features, etc. In any case I just feel the Search feature is somewhat antiquated and inefficient at this point that why there so many tells/shouts/yells for stuff now because they kind of feel the same as well.

It's a good idea, I see it being under used much like the sea com messages, i still brows them, and look through them if im doing a specific thing for like minded people, but often am impatient, and don't take the time to make my own, but I've a very good linkshell, and very rarely will they not be willing to lend a hand. Good groups of people, and fitting in are important.

The auto join feature HAS never worked. It would be the PERFECT place to create auto grouping for players looking to do specific missions etc.
/Search EVENT #XXXX
PLayers found needing EVENT #XXXX
List:
Sarick MNK99/DNC49
Topow WHM99/SCH49
Lucky THF99/DNC49
Chapelle RDM99/WHM47
Duke WAR99/SAM49
You get the picture..
Just add the Looking for or Creating EVENT/QUEST MISSION into the in progress quest and missions etc. list. When you click the mission it'll ask if you want to flag yourself as interested in doing this with other online players. If others are flagged it'll notify both parties also online with the same interest. It would be dreamy because people wouldn't need to work to find others doing the same missions events etc interest, especially if this allowed multiple flags active at the same time.

That was my first thought too, ... I've never seen the auto group work the way I thought it did, so after reading original post, i tried to auto group with a friend.... It don't do anything different.... So yeah, I came to conclusion its broke.... Just didnt want to start a flame war if it does work, and I don't know how.... /blush

It's always been broke IMHO. It should at least auto accept invites if it's turned on.
