FFXI Crashing during Job Ability or Spell Activivation

Hello,

I seem to be having an issue with FFXI. Whenever certain job abilities or magic spells are cast, FFXI is crashing to POL/Video Driver to crash. I did a complete reinstall of FFXI and updated to the most current drivers for my entire computer. This seemed to fix the issue, but when I downloaded my macros/setting from the server, the issue returned. I have tried restoring the FFXI Registry back to default, the POL Settings to default, and FFXI Settings to default and nothing fixes the issue.

I called the Customer Service number and they did not know a solution and referred me here. I was wondering if this was a known issue...


System Specs:
Microsoft Windows 7 Pro 6.1.7601 SP1 Build 7601 x64
Intel i7-3720QM CPU @ 2.6 Mhz
32 GB RAM
NVIDIA Quadro K2000M 9.18.13.593
NVIDIA High Definition Audio - Realtek High Definition Audio 1.3.18.0


I am not sure what else would be effecting it.

I will post the POL/FFXI Error code when it happens again along with the driver error that I get.

Consistently crashes:
Warrior 2 Hour
Mandragora Jug - Wild Oats

Randomly Crashes:
WS - Steel Cyclone
WS - Raging Rush

I have been killing Kuftal Delvers to farm my Fossilized Bone. More often then not, their spells crash the game... though I can not remember which ones specifically.

dunno man... looks like your rig should be runnin tippy top... what's your ISP mbps @? and is someone else using alot of your net feed? back when i was using the weeniest package my isp offered, (think it was 1mbps) and the wife would log into her account we litterally couldn't go into heavily populated areas due to lag, and one of us getting kicked out... we've sinced upgraded the computers to decent machines (but not as cool as yours) and jumping the speed to 5 mbps and we haven't had an issue since.. save trying to cure bomb war cleave but that's another story ;)

I changed my settings around again. It seems it has something to do with weather effects, shadows, or foot steps.

Sounds like the exact same problem a friend of mine who recently returned to the game has. He would crash every time i did a WS, but got around it by turning off combat and weather effects. Of course, that also makes the game really boring to look at. I think he's on a GTX 6-series something card. Another friend of mine is on a 560Ti, and I'm using a 460, but we don't have any problems like that.

It is exactly what I did, it seems to work now. No crashing, but extremely boring to look at. Kind of defeats the purpose of having such a strong PC... Anyway to implement a fix for this?

It has been a week since I asked for an update. I realize there has been some more pressing issues with the patch, but I would still like a response from SE on a possible fix for my crashing that happened pre-patch.

Does it only happen if you use a macro? if so delete that macro and put something else there to see if it still happens. if not, then re-make the offending macro in a different slot and see if that causes a crash

The only way I can play is with all 3 of these disabled. Kind of ridiculous when running a machine as new/good as mine.

I have been seeing this happen on other forums, and to me as well. (GTX660M)

It has something to do with the 6 series nvidia cards, I think.

Not exactly a fix, but to make the game playable I had to switch to the Intel HD4000 inside my i7 to play the game.

As far as I can tell people with 5 series and below nvidia cards do not have this problem.

I hope that Nvidia and SE are collaborating on a fix for this.

I Am Also Having This Problem Unfortunately =( ..... Mine Crashes When I Get The Shiny Gold "Level Up" Word Effects, As Well As When People Or Mobs Use AoE Spells....

GTX 660m Is What I'm Using, I Wish They Would Fix This Problem Because It Really Is Not To Great To Look At With Those Effects Like Weather And What Not Turned Off, Like Drofar Stated .... I Hope They Fix This Soon....

Thank you very much for your patience with waiting for a response from the development team. According to our records, the development team is still conducting an investigation into this matter. However, in the meantime, they recommend trying to go to "Config" in your PlayOnline menu and set your "Shadows" to a lower setting to see if it helps resolve the issue.
