So my buddy who is on Xbox decided he wanted to start playing Final Fantasy 11. So we go to the "Official" website to order a copy. The website lists the ultimate collection for 9.99. So we go to purchase and all the website does is direct you to the bottom of the page where their online stores are. 2 of the links are broken, the one for Gamestop and the one for EBgames. The 3rd link for amazon works and all they have for sale is new copies for 226.00 or used copies for 75 bucks. What is the deal? How can you advertise on your site a game for 9.99 but have no avenue to purchase it? What the F?

Buy a used copy anywhere, buy keys off of steam.

It's $226.00 because Amazon thinks it's old enough to be vintage, or something...

But there's a relatively cheap and simple alternative. Buy any version of FFXI Xbox360 on Ebay (Ultimate Edition takes less updating at first, but codes are irrelevant, just need clean, unscratched discs), then buy the Abyssea Edition ($9.99) for PC to get the codes. Codes are account based, not system based, so you only need to make sure to buy the one for the region you play in.

its like that because some sellers think its a rare item, which lately it seems to be, SE should just find a way to make a deal with MS to have it for sale on xbox live as a download, it would save them a lot

I doubt M$ would agree to any deal with SE. Anyone remember the fight over getting XIV on 360?

Took me 10 seconds to search that on Amazon; the FFXI Abyssea Edition, with ALL of the add-ons and expansions for $9.99.

Really not that hard..

I might be wrong, but I think XBox needs a game disc to be playable, so a windows download version won't do any good.

That works until you notice, for some reason the PC version wont work on Xbox :O

Xbox versions on Amazon are $148.20 (http://www.amazon.com/Final-Fantasy-Online-Collection-Xbox-360/dp/B000X2FTMY/ref=sr_1_3?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1347399486&sr=1-3&keywords=FFXI) $50.00 (http://www.amazon.com/Final-Fantasy-Promathia-Treasures-Xbox-360/dp/B000ENW5W4/ref=sr_1_5?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1347399486&sr=1-5&keywords=FFXI) $39.99 (http://www.amazon.com/Final-Fantasy-Online-Expansion-Xbox-360/dp/B000X5YXN2/ref=sr_1_6?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1347399486&sr=1-6&keywords=FFXI) & $70.00 (http://www.amazon.com/Final-Fantasy-XI-Online-Promathia-Treasures/dp/B001IVARAS/ref=sr_1_15?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1347399529&sr=1-15&keywords=FFXI).

My apologies. ._. I'm tired, and didn't read the post as thoroughly as I should have.

But that's even more ironic, considering I can go to my local non-Gamestop and find a copy of FFXI on PS2 for cheaper than that.. as well as Xbox copies for like $10. >_>

Thats kinda weird. And not trying to sound mean or anything, just sayin. Either case that is lucky on your part I would suppose seeing as I have looked everywhere near me and found not a single Xbox copy of the game, be it with or without any expansions. : /

You should easily be able to find a used copy of FFXI on XBox 360 for cheap.
You can get Abyssea Edition for PC from Amazon or Steam on the cheap, and use its registration codes to set up your SquareEnix/PlayOnline/FFXI account through the Square Enix Account Management System website - then you can play it on XBox 360 without issue.

Pretty much this. All you need is the core expansions.. since the add-ons are all in the patch downloads anyway.

If you can find any copy of FFXI for 360, be it with or without Expansions, for less than $30 online, please let me know.

Here is XBox 360 version, lacking Wings of the Goddess, for under $20 (before shipping):
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000ENW5W4/ref=sr_1_1_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1347414408&sr=8-1&keywords=final+fantasy+11+xbox+360&condition=used

Best Buy has a used listing for FFXI 2008 Collection for XBox at 12.99, but it's sold out.

This is getting ridiculous. I know FFXI isn't new but you would think enough people tried it and didn't like it for there to be a lively aftermarket for used XBox and PS2 discs. (If you think getting Vana'diel Collection 2008 for XBox is hard....)

SquareEnix needs to stamp out some new discs at least for the XBox. The PS2 is far enough out of production and with a small enough share of the user base that producing new FFXI discs for it probably can't be justified, but I highly doubt the same is true for the XBox.

A load of people rarely sell a used copy of a game with a serial, especially for XBOX when the disk is needed to load it. It would have been a lot better to have an option of installing it minus the disk requirement like the PC.

From what I've seen, used copies of FFXI were plentiful not long after it came out. While it's not impossible that between 2008 and now the used copies have most all been purchased by existing PC and PS2 players, it seems unlikely that that would explain for the near-total lack of used copies.

You could instead spend that $226 on a used PC capable of running the game better then the lolbox.

tbh, the only reasonable system to play this on is the PC

This is actually the exact same thing I said to him. He is just going to invest in a PC. With the money he can make selling the 360 he won't be out of pocket much anyway. I thank you all for the solutions to the problem. But really my biggest bitch is that SE advertises the game on their site for 9.99 but has no avenue to purchase it. I appreciate the help folks.

To think I have that Xbox 360 edition and trying to sell it on Kijiji for 25$, I should sell it on amazon instead :D
