Friends list showing friends offline when they are actually online.

I'm not sure why this is happening, but ever since me and 3 of my friends came back to FFXI about a month ago, only 1 of my friends ever shows that they are online on my friends list. The other two always show offline, even when they are on the game and we're playing together.

Is this a known issue, or what's going on? Is this happening to anyone else?

I asked them and they said they pretty much never go invisible. Thank you for your help.

Another issue that could occur is this:

If said person does not have you on their friend list (for whatever reason), yet you have them on yours, they won't show up as online. I've experienced this before and found that to be the cause.

Perhaps you or they linked your/their ID to a different handle? I may be incorrect in thinking but I thought that each handle could have a different set of "Friends list".
