So I'm about ready to start doing some elemental magian axe trials, but had a question about which ones I should do. I know I see most BSTs running around with -PDT axes, but as someone who pretty much full-times Falcorr, wouldn't it be better to do evasion axes considering Falcorr's already high evasion stat? +40 Evasion would mean virtually never getting hit by normal mobs and I'm thinking it would be better damage mitigation versus NM's than -20% PDT.
Opinions?

While evasion will help you against mobs of the same level as your pet or even a lower level then your pet I'd have to question its effectiveness against higher level mobs. Higher level mobs will vary in acc but will be hitting your pet hard regardless of EVA. On the other hand I personally have not tried pet EVA axes yet and have a pair of PDT currently. PDT to me seems more universal then EVA axes. In addition I usually sub DNC and the VIT on the PDT axes does increase the potency of Waltz when you heal yourself.

Physical Damage Taken.
Evasion rate caps at 80%, damage reduction caps at 50%, so technically evasion is more potent. However, damage reduction is, as was mentioned, universal, whereas evasion always depends on the mob Accuracy. If the mob level is too low, hit rate may be floored already, if the mob level is too high, the evasion may not do you much good. It depends on what you want to fight. 44 Evasion = 22% Hit rate. This is equal in potency to 22% PDT, assuming the same base values. The higher they get, the more effective the gain, before it hits cap. Evasion caps higher, but it depends on the enemy, which makes it harder to calculate.

I've been wondering about this myself as I have a couple of axes in the works, one -pdt and one that just has the initial elemental trial done. An evasion/pdt combo sounds p. rad.
pet physical damage taken is now capped at 87.5%
It was pretty funny when it was not capped at all. :P
